Mobile World Congress 2025 (MWC) has introduced massive developments in the world of mobile technology, and now T-Mobile's parent company, Deutsche Telekom, is joining the smartphone-making business that revolves around artificial intelligence.
The tech company has revealed its partnership with Perplexity AI to build a new AI phone, which will also use the Perplexity Assistant for its service.
The plans are already underway for both companies while Deutsche Telekom's subsidiary, T-Mobile, is also making its push to further develop its Magenta AI.
Deutsche Telekom is Making an AI Phone with a Perplexity Assistant
The LATEST development for T-Mobile's Deutsche Telekom is here, and it focuses on offering its very own consumer technology device that leverages AI.
According to the latest announcement from Deutsche Telekom and T-Mobile, they are now working on their take on an AI phone, but the company still has no name for this new device.
Deutsche Telekom is following up on showcase at MWC 2024 that featured the same AI Phone concept. What is different now is its partnership with Perplexity AI, which leverages its Perplexity Assistance to bolster this new device's capabilities.
Through the combined forces of Deutsche Telekom, T-Mobile, and Perplexity, the new smartphone will reportedly offer better text and call communications experiences, online shopping, online media, and more.
Moreover, Deutsche Telekom revealed that Perplexity AI will be an app-free experience, serving as a co-pilot for the device's many processes.

T-Mobile's Magenta AI to Run Deutsche Telekom's AI Phone
This AI phone will run under the Magenta AI system, the technology that is available on the smartphones from T-Mobile. This means that users will be able to easily access the technology on the lock screen or by double-tapping the power button.
Users may also access the likes of Google's Cloud AI, Picsart, ElevenLabs, and more from the device.
Deutsche Telekom claimed that the AI phone will be available later this year, but no specific dates have been confirmed.
The Era of AI Smartphones Is Here
AI smartphones seem to be the new trend when it comes to mobile phones in this day and age. Samsung was notably among the firsts to introduce the era of AI smartphones with their Galaxy S24 series release, with the company launching Galaxy AI alongside it to power its features.
Others quickly followed suit, with various international companies also integrating AI heavily into their operating systems and user interfaces to offer users an assisted and more powerful approach. Apple, for example, also introduced its AI-focused smartphones when it unveiled the iPhone 16 series, in which Apple Intelligence takes center stage.
Other manufacturers and companies are slowly making the switch, with Carl Pei's Nothing, Google Pixel, and more working on deeper AI integrations.
