Another historical spaceflight is on its way for Jeff Bezos' private space company, Blue Origin, as the company has officially announced that the NS-31 mission aboard its New Shepard spacecraft will take place soon.

It will be the first all-female spaceflight featuring a crew of six led by women, and it features renowned personalities like multi-Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter, Katy Perry, alongside Lauren Sanchez, and Gayle King.

The new team of six will "shoot across the sky" with Blue Origin, with this also marking the company's 11th flight involving humans.

Blue Origin's All-Female Flight Is Set; NS-31 Flying to the Karman Line

According to the latest release from Blue Origin, the much-awaited all-female flight that the company announced years ago is coming soon, with the company now confirming that this feat will take place during the NS-31 mission.

The historical mission will mark the first time that the world will see an all-female crew leading the expedition.

The mission also marks the 11th human spaceflight in Blue Origin's entire operation, and the company is now making its preparations for the upcoming trip to the Karman Line found between the Earth's atmosphere and outer space.

Blue Origin's New Shepard will propel these women at more than three times the speed of sound upon liftoff, and the company will go beyond the imaginary line that will allow the crew to experience the microgravity environment.

The six-women crew is composed of a diverse team, starting with a former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, who will be joined by bioastronautics research scientist Amanda Nguyen and film producer Kerianne Flynn.

Also joining the all-female crew are pop star Katy Perry, former journalist and Bezos' fiancé, Laura Sanchez, and celebrated CBS host Gayle King.

Blue Origin's Human Spaceflights Over the Years

Four years ago, Blue Origin made its debut flight with the New Shepard rocket after several decades of planning and preparation, with this mission being a special one for its founder as he was part of the crew.

The company immediately announced two more flights following that mission, and it later expanded to more spaceflights done by the company featuring a mix of civilians and astronauts, with one of the most famous being Captain Kirk himself, William Shatner.

While the company has not ramped up significantly in its human spaceflights over the past years, it still had massive ambitions to send more people to space, particularly civilians who want to experience the cosmos for the first time.

One of its most ambitious plans is to launch a mission featuring an all-female crew, with Bezos' partner being part of the space expedition.

Two years have passed since that announcement and multiple missions took place and now, the world will get to witness this historic spaceflight.
