There is a new add-on tier that will soon be available on Spotify's platform. It is called "Music Pro" and will offer users improved audio quality for their streaming, alongside other perks. It will set Spotify subscribers back an extra $6 per month on top of their existing Premium fees.
Over the past years, there have been rumors about Spotify's effort to offer the "Lossless Audio'" streaming quality or the "Supremium" tier, which did not arrive, but this rumored new tier is now the closest thing to it.
Spotify 'Music Pro' Tier Is Reportedly Coming For Extra $6/Month
According to a new report by Bloomberg, there is an upcoming new tier that is set to appear on Spotify, which will offer an upgrade to existing Premium subscribers that helps improve their music streaming experiences.
This will be called the Music Pro tier, which will be available for an additional $6 per month. It is expected to bring additional perks and improved audio quality to users.
Currently, Spotify already offers its Premium Individual tier at $11.99 per month, and its most expensive is the Premium Family, which allows six accounts to use the platform for $19.99 monthly.
Should users opt for the Music Pro, Premium Individual subscribers will have to pay $17.99 per month.
What Does Spotify's Music Pro Tier Have to Offer?
The reports claim that this is expected to be the Hi-Fi upgrade that Spotify promised all these years, which is expected to be the Swedish streaming platform's term for "Lossless Audio."
However, it has not been confirmed whether this would be the lossless audio quality that was promised by the company.
Spotify's Rumored Lossless Audio Upgrade
Lossless audio has been the top alluring feature present on many music streaming platforms like Apple Music, which has it available depending on the song, Tidal, Amazon Music Prime, and more. However, among the top names on the list, Spotify is noticeably absent, but there have been reports about its plans to do so.
Throughout the years, Spotify has been reported to be working on offering a lossless audio upgrade to its current tier, particularly as the best quality it can offer is the MP3 320kbit/s, which is not exactly lossless.
Previous reports claimed that it was supposed to be called the "Supremium" tier and it was set to be the most expensive tier that Spotify will offer to subscribers.
