Apple and Google have long been trying to best the other when it comes to smartphone features, but Battery Health has been something that is not available on Android devices.

The iOS has had this feature since the release of iOS 11.3 for the iPhone 6, with the Google-made operating system severely lagging behind its competitor for power cell insights users want to know about.

However, the latest deep dive into the Android 16 Beta 1 version revealed that Google is continuing its effort to make Battery Health available in the future.

Android 16 Beta Features a Battery Health Page in Settings

A new report from 9to5Google shared that the latest Android 16 Beta 1 version now has a Battery Health settings page for devices, and this same feature also appeared for Android 15 Beta's version 1.1.0.717462792. The code strings also confirmed that the feature is legitimate and is already part of the Android operating system.

Users who enabled the Battery Health feature on Android 13's QPR1 only got a settings page that offers support articles when tapped on, guiding users to specific functions on how to extend the battery life.

According to the report, Google is currently working on this feature for Beta 1 and the work will continue to the next Android 16 Beta 2 version.

Here's What Android 16 Offers For Battery Health Insights

In the new Battery Health page on Android 16's beta, users may now view their battery capacity which talks about how much charge your device's battery can hold compared to a new original power cell. Users will also find a charging optimization display.

Google will also reportedly add better battery measurement methods through recalibration, which can take several weeks to complete.

Battery Health Is a Massive Feature for Smartphones

If you are an avid follower of tech content creators on TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, and more, then you may have probably heard of their focus on Battery Health on iPhones and how they maintain it. These creators provide tips on how to maximize your power cell's lifecycle despite the daily use, including not charging the device past 80 percent, avoiding using it below 20 percent, and other more helpful tips to keep it in an excellent state.

Despite the long availability of the Battery Health feature on iOS, Android still does not have the dedicated experience to give users insights on their smartphone usage concerning the battery of their device. The current version offers users a page in Settings that will lead users to tips and support articles on how to properly maintain the health of their device's batteries, but not exact insights on their usage.

That being said, Google is already working on delivering a Battery Health feature for Android in the past years, and the release of Android 16 may finally launch the feature.

As evidenced by Android 16's Beta 1, the feature is indeed coming as screenshots of the feature offer the much-awaited insights and control on one's usage, but it remains unknown when it will arrive.
