Take-Two Takes Down 'GTA' Modders YouTube Channel But Creators Push for 'Vice City: The Next-Gen Edition'

Take-Two Interactive does not want mods to be done on GTA.

Over the past years, the absence of Rockstar Games' new titles for the franchise has left modders creating new experiences for gamers based on the renowned sandbox game, but Take-Two Interactive has not let those go until now. The recent move by Take-Two was taking down a team of developers behind a YouTube channel that shared a "Grand Theft Auto IV" mod to the world.

However, there are still more projects that are coming from the team, and they are not letting Take-Two Interactive stop them from releasing one of their most anticipated releases which is based on Vice City.

'GTA' Modders Face YouTube Takedown from Take-Two

The social media world is buzzing because of Take-Two's recent takedown of the renowned modding group, Revolution Team, particularly their YouTube channel where they share updates regarding their latest work. It was revealed that the Revolution Team is from Russia, and they shared updates and uploaded links to their "GTA" mods on their YouTube channel before it was shut down.

It was also revealed that since the takedown, the Revolution Team has not shared any updates on their Telegram channel which hosts the latest information on their works.

According to the reports, the takedown occurred after Revolution Team announced that their next project, which centers on Vice City, was set to debut by Saturday, January 25, and garnered 100,000 views before Take-Two intervened.

'Vice City: Next-Gen Edition' Still a Go From Modders

However, it is speculated that Revolution Team only faced a DMCA copyright strike from Take-Two on YouTube and that the game publishing company cannot do anything about them uploading the "Vice City: Next-Gen Edition" mod itself. That being said, fans are worried that Take-Two may follow up a lawsuit against the Revolution Team for their "GTA" mod projects and fear that this might be the dagger that ends them.

The Famed 'Grand Theft Auto' Mods Over the Years

For gamers who have already finished the story mode of a title and want to experience more from the same experience are turning to modders to deliver them new gameplay that may or may not be based on the game. "Grand Theft Auto" has seen its fair share of mods throughout the years, and one of the most popular was a "GTA V" mod for PCs that transformed everything into 4K quality which helps improve the experience.

Game modders have also deviated from the main story and experiences in what the original development team shared with the public, adopting several pop culture icons to join these titles in the past. "GTA V" once had "The Flash" visiting Los Santos after his stint in Central City, with the fastest man alive capable of zooming past the map, getting his renowned metahuman powers, and more.

One of the largest mod developments in "GTA V" was modders transforming the game into another iconic one, bringing over Naughty Dog's "The Last of Us" set in the world of "Grand Theft Auto" where the cordyceps-rid world infected Los Santos. Mods are fun for gamers, especially for PC players, but are nightmarish for some publishers, despite the takedown from Take-Two Interactive, Revolution Team is not backing down and is continuing their quest to deliver "Vice City: Next-Gen Edition" for all.
