It is true that artificial intelligence is already advancing at a rapid pace, and since its floodgates were opened almost three years ago, there is no stopping its rise in the current market that is already in demand of the tech. With this, Anthropic's CEO Dario Amodei claimed that he predicts that artificial intelligence can surpass humans in as little as two to three years, or by 2027.

This is a short time for artificial intelligence to gain the edge over most humans in the world, but Amodei has also contradicted his prediction by saying it may take longer than that, also citing its potential implications.

AI Could Surpass Humans By 2027 Says Anthropic CEO

The recent World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland had Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei sharing his two cents regarding the advancements of artificial intelligence in the present, via an interview with the Wall Street Journal. One of the biggest claims by Amodei was a prediction regarding AI's advancements in the present, particularly as the CEO claimed that AI could surpass humans in the next 2 to 3 years.

That being said, Amodei regarded that the timeline may be much longer than that, and despite initially claiming that it could happen by 2027, the CEO thinks that this development is not yet coming soon.

Amodei said that AI is "better than humans at almost everything" and would take longer than the timeline he regarded, but this progression is something he expects to eventually lead to artificial intelligence surpassing humans, including robotics.

AI's Advancements Have Potential Implications

However, Amodei also regarded that there are potential implications should artificial intelligence advance in a rapid timeline, particularly if applied to various innovations, including advanced robotics. In terms of intelligent AI powering advanced robotics, they could have potential implications against humans on the economic side of things, particularly as they can replace people in various jobs which could lead to companies rethinking this development.

The Rise of the Most Advanced Tech of Today

There is no denying that artificial intelligence is smart, fast, and well-adept in many subject matters, and it went from being exclusively available in programs or powering certain tech, to being the generative AI platforms that we know today. At present, the goal of artificial intelligence is to deliver 'agentic' developments that could help in automation, where humans can designate the machine to do stuff or tasks for them without the need to prompt it every single time.

That being said, one of the biggest aspirations for tech and AI companies who are currently advancing their machine learning systems is to create the so-called "artificial general intelligence" (AGI) for the world. However, Meta's Mark Zuckerberg criticized the industry for their pursuit of creating the "one true AI" in the present as it is not focused on helping the public's different needs, relating it to an effort to "create God."

While AI is mainly known to the public as their everyday chatbots or technology that helps answer users' commands or queries via voice assistants, there are many industries that AI is already helping including robotics, medicine, science, and more. Anthropic's Amodei claimed that AI can soon surpass humans in only a short time, but as much as it is a technological advancement, there are still adverse effects it can bring to society.
