While President Donald J. Trump's first order of business was to help TikTok remain operational in the country, the next big thing that he did using his power was to pardon Ross Ulbricht of his crimes after already serving time for as much as 10 years. Ulbricht is notoriously known for creating the infamous 'Silk Road,' a dark web marketplace that allowed users to sell illegal goods and services using cryptocurrency.

Reports claimed that this presidential pardon from Trump to Ulbricht is part of his massive promises on the 'crypto future' of the United States, with the convicted felon now given a chance to walk free again.

Trump Pardoned Ross Ulbricht, Silk Road's Notorious Creator

Ross Ulbricht was given a full pardon by the 47th President of the United States, and according to Bloomberg, this was part of Trump's promise to the cryptocurrency and the Libertarian Movement. In a new post by Trump on his social media platform, Truth Social, he gave Ulbricht a "full and unconditional pardon" which sets the convicted criminal free after being given double life sentences back in 2015.

Ten years after the Silk Road creator's conviction, Ulbricht is now returning to society, with Trump being true to his word to the Libertarian movement which started the campaign to "Free Ross."

In Trump's post, he also made a special mention to Ulbricht's mother who was part of the Libertarian movement, and the new US President shared that they strongly supported him during his campaign.

Trump Promised Ulbricht's Release From Prison Before

The Libertarians, whose Ulbricht's mother is a part of and has started the 'Free Ross' campaign, sternly supported the President, and part of Trump's promises to them is to pardon "Dread Pirate Roberts," Ulbricht's username on Silk Road, once he is in power. Trump fulfilled this promise on his second day in office, making it one of his top priorities since his White House return.

The United States Crypto Future and Trump

Last July, Donald Trump unveiled that he is pouring massive support for the cryptocurrency industry which he is set to transform once he wins the 2024 US Presidential elections, and has since aligned himself with digital assets. After Trump won, crypto went on to a massive rally where each week saw the industry grow larger than it ever was, with Bitcoin achieving its all-time high that well crossed over $100,000.

That being said, this massive performance of the crypto market is far from over as this occurred during the time that Trump was not yet in the seat of power, and his recent inauguration also had the coins rallying. As part of Trump's plans to make the United States a crypto capital and make Bitcoin a global superpower, he has tapped into like-minded politicians to fill in spots in the government, including the recent induction of Mark T. Uyeda as the SEC's acting chair.

Other plans were also revealed by the now-inducted 47th President of the United States, as Trump is gearing up to adopt cryptocurrency as the country's reserves, with Bitcoin also part of this plan. In a bold move for the cryptocurrency industry, Trump gave Ross Ulbricht a full presidential pardon which set him free after almost 10 years, fulfilling a promise to the Libertarians and the crypto industry as part of his new regime.
