The much-anticipated Flight 7 of the Starship program has been delayed by SpaceX, and fans who were anticipating the Wednesday, January 15 flight were disappointed by this cancelation by the company. However, the good news is that SpaceX is only delaying it for a day, and the awaited test launch of the stainless steel rocket is coming only a day after this Thursday, January 16.
Flight 7 is being set up as another historic launch for the Starship program as it will bring its first-ever payload and deliver it to orbit while testing the spacecraft, and it will take a step farther than previous missions.
SpaceX Delayed Starship's Flight 7 But Reschedules For Tomorrow
The latest announcement from SpaceX shared bad news for all, and this is because the anticipated Flight 7 of the Starship and Super Heavy was delayed, and according to the company, it is because of bad weather conditions. However, the company does not want anyone to worry about this delay as it will only take a day, with the next launch window for the company set for Thursday, January 16.
Fortunately, the delay was because of natural happenings and not because of any anomaly found on the spacecraft, with this being good news for fans and those who are waiting to see the Starship climb towards the skies again.
According to SpaceX, the 60-minute launch window will open by 4 PM Central Time for the seventh test flight of the Starship, with the company set to attempt another massive feat for the rocket.
Starship's Next Test Launch Is Set To Be Historic Again
SpaceX is planning something massive for Flight 7 as it would be the first time that it will include a payload to the Starship, and the second stage rocket would deliver it to orbit once it reaches outer space. Next, SpaceX is also looking to demonstrate another catch landing for the Super Heavy Booster first stage, particularly as the company was only able to do it once via Flight 5.
Starship and Its Massive Successes in 2024
Starship had a pair of launches in 2023 which turned out to be a mess, but this did not bring down the company's spirits as they continued with testing their fully-stacked rockets for their trip to orbit. While 2024's first flight for the Starship with flight number 3 also ended with an explosion, everything changed in June last year when the company nailed the fourth time they flew the rocket.
After breaking the ice, it was smooth sailing for SpaceX's Starship from there on out, and the next one, Flight 5, saw immense success when the company was also able to successfully catch Super Heavy using the Mechazilla catch tower in its first try. SpaceX was widely celebrated for their massive success on this feat, and it is a historic moment not onlyfor them but also for the world.
With this, SpaceX already proved that its reusability is a real thing, and the company has made another successful demonstration of the Starship's capabilities with the last of the year's Flight 6 which saw the main ship firing its thrusters to change its landing trajectory. SpaceX was not able to squeeze in Flight 7 to be their final mission of 2024, and they faced a delay with their supposed debut for 2025, but its delay will only take a day.
