The Vision Pro 2 has been regarded by rumors to be coming later this year, but a renowned analyst now clarified the story, saying that the next-gen version of the expensive and premium wearable is not making its debut this 2025. However, there are talks about Apple's development of a wearable device coming this year but it would be the cheaper version that would go against rivals in the industry.
It was a massive year for Apple last 2024 as it debuted its first-ever wearable headset for users, but this came at a cost as it is literally one of the most expensive ones in the market because of its massive features and tech.
Apple Vision Pro 2 Is Not Coming This 2025 Says Analyst
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman shared via the Power On newsletter that Apple will not focus on pushing the release of the Vision Pro 2 this year, and there are signs that point to this next-gen headset coming by 2026 instead. Gurman claimed that Apple may reveal a new headset by 2026, believed to be the Vision Pro 2, which will deliver the improvements and upgrades to the premium headset from last year.
Piecing together other analysts' claims, it was revealed that Apple will start the Vision Pro 2's production by the second half of this year, and this timeline would push its release date to next year instead of the current one. The second half of production would also mean that Apple's new M5 chipset, which is also expected to debut on Macs and iPads this year, would be available to the Vision Pro 2.
Apple Working on 'Cheaper' Headset Coming Soon
That being said, Apple has a more "urgent goal" for this year and that is to develop a cheaper version of their headsets which would make it on par with rivals like Meta Ray-Ban's Smart Glasses. It was revealed that it already has a codename behind Cupertino's closed doors, the N107, which would be a smart glasses version from Apple, as well asAirPods with cameras at the bottom.
The Next-Gen Apple Vision Pro Rumors
Various analysts and speculators have talked about the future of the Vision Pro lineup since its first release last year, and there were claims that Cupertino would deliver a cheaper version that would make it more available to the masses. However, that was not the case as other sources claimed that Apple would not prioritize the cheaper version, but the next-gen one which would feature the M5 chipset.
It was widely believed that Apple would focus on the Vision Pro 2 to succeed in its first-ever headset by this year, and it will start its production by 2025 which would have it ready for launch when needed. However, it is unknown if it would be immediately available by this year, as the previous Vision Pro also saw its production last 2023 when it was announced during the same year's WWDC, but only released by February 2024.
Apple's Tim Cook regarded that the first Vision Pro headset was meant for developers to experience and build upon for future apps and tech, and it was priced that way as it was only marketed to early adopters who could afford such a premium device. However, Apple is looking to change the narrative for its current developments, particularly as it will focus on the cheaper one, and Vision Pro 2 is set for next year.
