When a big name video game release is right around the corner, it isn't uncommon for game publishers to create a live-action trailer for the title to build up anticipation levels even higher. Call of Duty did it. Destiny did it.
But Evolve's live action trailer isn't like most. Atmospheric as opposed to bombastic, the trailer attempts to convey the experience of playing Evolve's deadly game of hide-and-seek. Check it out below.
Four people, representing the game's four hunters, sprint through the woods in search of the lone "monster," in this case a young man. Running for his life, he finds the perfect ambush point and waits patiently and silently for his moment to strike.
If you had the opportunity to play Evolve in one of the game's various alphas or betas, you'll know the the trailer is fairly spot-on in how the game plays. The monster is far too weak to take on the four hunters at the early stage of a match, and must flee and feed on other animals to grow in power. From there it's all about keeping one step ahead of the hunters and striking when they least expect it. Hunters, meanwhile, follow the monster's trail, hoping to corner the beast and bring it down before it grows too powerful.
It's rare that a live-action trailer gives such an accurate portrayal of the game it advertises. If this doesn't tell you what Evolve is all about, nothing will.
