Meta Is Working on Bringing Instagram’s Comments to Threads, But Why?

Cross-platform is something that Meta can do freely to its platforms.

Meta has since positioned itself as a multi-platform company, with its Facebook and Instagram coexisting with each other, but now that it has added Threads to the rotation, it is also receiving several features. That was recently discovered by users when they saw that Instagram is working on sharing comments made on posts available on its text-centered platform.

The latest discovery of a Threads user and renowned tech leaker, Alessandro Paluzzi, details a new feature that Meta is working on, centering on the capability to share Instagram comments to its short-word, text-based counterpart.

In the screenshot, Paluzzi showed how when users comment on Instagram posts, there is a "sharing option" where they could publish it exclusively on the platform or 'Also share on Threads.'

Other users have also corroborated this feature, showing how comments can be turned into a Threads post and have it automatically copied from Instagram to Threads in a click.

Why is There a Need to Share IG Comments to Threads?

There is still no official word on this feature from Meta, but it is something that is already expected from the social media company as many are finding it a nifty capability.

It was revealed by Paluzzi in a separate post that this is a crossposting feature from Instagram to Threads, and it will "pre-fill" a Threads post based on the specific Instagram comment. Users may still edit the word, and Paluzzi said that it may come with a link back to the said comment on Instagram.

This feature is similar to a "repost" feature found on X and Threads and would be significantly helpful in adding further comments or context, to the said original comment.

Cross-Platform Features in Meta's Apps to Threads

During the early stages of Threads in the tech industry, Meta has ramped up its marketing and let the public know that this is the hippest platform to be, in the wake of Twitter/X. Instagram users can easily make a Threads account by clicking on one button that popped up on Instagram before, as both apps are linked and only one account is needed for both.

As the Threads platform is yet to receive its own 'Direct Messages' feature, it still relies heavily on Instagram for its communication part of things, but Meta has already promised that they are working on it. Additionally, users who want to share specific Threads posts with their mutuals can do so by sharing it via Instagram DMs to their preferred users.

Moreover, Facebook and Instagram both have a feature that shows Threads carousels on their specific feeds, and clicking on them would direct users to the app or bring them to Instagram and ask them to create their accounts.

Cross-platform experiences are no longer new on Meta's Threads, but the latest one is giving Instagram users more options of where their comments would be seen, and yes, it is with its text-based counterpart.
