YouTube for TV App Now Shows Ads When Pausing Videos Apart From Running Ads in Between

Ads won't leave you alone on YouTube for TV, and users are complaining.

Ads on YouTube have a way of finding a new method to inject ads into streams, and a previously confirmed feature is now appearing for several users. Specifically, this is seen on the YouTube for TV app where users will be seeing an ad when simply pausing the video they are currently streaming.

Online users began to notice the latest changes on the YouTube for TV app, and they regarded that after simply pausing videos when streaming on the platform, they are now seeing new ads. This latest push by YouTube also offers it in a new layout, with the video they are watching getting a tiny bit smaller and on a separate window to the left, while the ad would appear on the right-hand side.

Users from X and Reddit both showed that YouTube pushed a Dunkin' advertisement, and there are already a handful of accounts that have seen this change.

According to 9to5Google, this limited rollout follows Google and YouTube's initial revelation that it is already testing the feature earlier this year. Users may dismiss the ad with a button found below it, but that means they need to do so every time they pause the video.

Regular Ads That Run In Between Will Still Appear

While YouTube's new ad format is in a limited rollout, it is expected that it will appear to more users in the coming days or weeks. This paused video advertisement is unclear if it would also appear for Premium users who were promised an ad-free experience.

That being said, YouTube Free accounts will get to see this apart from the regular ads that run before, in the middle, or after select media.

YouTube and Its Evolving Advertisements

Advertisements on YouTube are still a massive thing, and it remains one of the top revenue sources of the multimedia streaming platform offering it as a service for clients and partners. Among the many new campaigns on YouTube, ads for Shorts are also evolving, with these appearing as vertical videos which AI would help transform so that they would suit its layout better.

Users who do not want ads are given the option to subscribe to YouTube Premium, offering them a seamless, feature-packed, and ad-free experience when streaming videos. With this, YouTube also cracked down on users who have ad blockers, fighting against the tactics that help them avoid advertisements, claiming that this is against its terms of service.

Platforms that recently pushed more ads for their app's experiences have seen massive complaints, and this was infamously done by Amazon Prime Video before. However, Google also has something coming soon in relation to this, with several users now seeing it on YouTube for TV.

Ads will still follow you every step of the way on YouTube, also doing so when temporarily pausing a video.
