The renowned media conglomerate and marketing firm, Cox Media Group, has been exposed that it has access to user conversations via smartphones, using its 'Active Listening' Software. Using this technology, CMG can hear conversations with and from people present, and they claim that they use this information to improve their advertisement push.

According to 404 Media, CMG revealed this to investors when it presented a slide deck, and this 'Active Listening' technology can obtain "real-time data."

Its listed partners like Google, Meta, and Amazon denied that they spied on user conversations via CMG's technology. Google has since removed Cox Media Group from its Partners Program, while Meta claimed that the company is under review.

On the other hand, Amazon Advertising denied that they were ever partners with CMG.
