The capability to edit one's sent direct messages on X is now made available on the iOS version of the app, after a long time of not having this feature compared to other platforms. As mentioned by the company, this was first rolled out to iOS users, but it still has not revealed any release dates for its Android availability, but it was said that it will soon follow.

An X engineer initially shared on the platform that its edit feature for Direct Messages is now available for iOS users to enjoy. It was later confirmed by X that it is now rolling out to users, giving them the ability to change their typos, context, butt dials, and more to different accounts.

According to the engineer, users need to download the latest app to get the feature on the iOS platforms like the iPhone and iPad.

It was also revealed that the edit feature's availability on other platforms is coming soon, but there were no exact timelines for this roll out.

How to Use Edit Feature on X's DMs

Editing chats on X's Direct Messages is easy, and users only need to long-press their sent message in the conversation to reveal the edit option. This method is similar to other DM features and it will join the other experiences like reacting to chats, replying, copying a message, or deleting the message on one's end.

According to TechCrunch, X's support page claimed that the edit feature has no time limits, and upon their test, users can also edit older DMs. However, X would not reveal the edit history made on the sent message despite keeping it.

Moreover, users can only edit a specific message up to five times.

Recent Features Available on X

X changed a lot since Elon Musk bought the platform when it was still a public company, and this shift to private enabled the owner to effect his changes and how it operates. One of the biggest changes on X is its evolution into a "video-centric" platform, with the social media adopting a similar "For You" feature on their video feed that would be based on their interests.

Apart from this, X also introduced a way for users to protect their privacy on the platform by allowing them to opt out of xAI's Grok training. However, users need to take extra steps in preventing Grok AI from accessing their online data as by default, this setting is turned on and allows the chatbot to access their posts and more for its improvements.

Alongside this, X also allows posting videos as long as four hours, Edit Post, Livestream (a.k.a. Video Spaces), and more but most of these are exclusive to X Premium.

The latest update from X is now allowing users to edit their DMs without a time limit, but would only be available up to five times, and yes, it is still available for free.
