One of the most influential figures in tech and a prominent figure in Silicon Valley, Susan Wojcicki, has recently passed away at the age of 56 amid her battle against lung cancer. The renowned executive has been credited for her massive role in providing the foundations of Google, as the co-founder duos have worked on her garage to build the renowned internet search engine.
She was also known for her role in leading YouTube as the chief executive of the streaming platform for almost ten years before parting ways with the company.
Susan Wojcicki Passed Away at 56 Because of Lung Cancer
Dennis Tropper shared a heartfelt post on Facebook which confirmed Susan Wojcicki's death last August 9, after her two-year battle against lung cancer. It was revealed by Tropper that it was a non-small cell variant of the disease but did not reveal more of the intricate details regarding her passing.
Various Google executives have paid their respects and shared words regarding her passing, with Google's current CEO Sundar Pichai saying that it is "hard to imagine a world without her."
Remembering Susan Wojcicki and Her Role in Tech
Since Google's founding, Wojcicki has already been part of the team, and apart from her role as the marketing manager of the then start-up from Menlo Park, she also helped in developing Google's iconic logo, as well as Google Images moving forward.
Wojcicki was only appointed as YouTube's CEO in 2014, in which she has been part of significant campaigns and developments of the renowned video streaming platform until her departure in 2023. In her almost a decade run as YouTube's CEO, Wojcicki regarded that it has been one of her "best decisions in life" to join Google along with its founders, the Stanford duo of Page and Brin.
It was unknown to the world that Wojcicki was battling lung cancer until her husband's recent post which announced her death.

Twenty-six years ago, Google was founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, but as the company was starting, their first office space started in Susan Wojcicki's home garage which helped in their further development. It is known that Wojcicki was Google's first marketing manager, being responsible for the campaigns that helped make its image known to the world.
Google is known for acquiring YouTube in 2006, and almost a decade later, the parent company named Wojcickias the Chief Executive Officer of the streaming platform in 2014.
Under her tutelage, the platform grew into what users mostly know about, greatly credited for her efforts which led to its massive success.
Wojcicki has lived a productive life, being one of the pillars of Google and YouTube, now at peace after a battle with lung cancer.
