WhatsApp has launched a new feature allowing users to organize events directly within group chats. This update aims to simplify event planning for users by integrating it into the widely-used messaging platform.

WhatsApp looks forward to improving group chats with its new event planning feature. The messaging platform can only create events in Communities before that.

Initially rolled out in May for Community group chats, the event planning feature is now available to all groups on WhatsApp. This tool enables users to set up events, meetings, and social gatherings easily.

According to WhatsApp's blog, this feature makes it more convenient for users to plan get-togethers, whether it's arranging a virtual meeting or organizing a birthday dinner.

How to Create Events in WhatsApp

Creating an event within a group chat is straightforward. Users can tap the + button in the group chat and select the Event option. They can then choose an event name, provide an optional description, set a start date, specify a location, and add a WhatsApp call link for voice or video calls.

Once an event is created, a notification is sent to all group members, ensuring everyone is informed and can respond accordingly. According to MacRumors, attendees can view the event details on the group's information page and receive automatic reminders as the event date approaches.

Rolling Out to All Users

WhatsApp has begun rolling out this feature to all group chats and will continue to do so progressively over the coming weeks. This rollout comes as WhatsApp reaches a significant milestone, surpassing 100 million monthly active users in the United States. This achievement is notable given that the U.S. market has traditionally been dominated by other messaging services such as SMS and iMessage.

Enhancing Communication and Coordination

The new event planning feature highlights WhatsApp's ongoing efforts to enhance communication and coordination within its platform. By integrating event planning directly into group chats, WhatsApp provides a convenient tool for users to manage their social and professional schedules without leaving the app.

In other news, GSM Arena reported in late July that the Meta-owned messaging app will add double-tap message reactions as its new feature. If you're familiar with Instagram DMs, this functionality has been existing here for a long time.

Elsewhere, WhatsApp will also focus on bringing the upcoming video note mode feature which will allow users to send quick clips as messages.

There's also a leaked feature where WhatsApp users can create personalized stickers using their own images. Meta says that it will be initially accessible for beta users whose device has iOS version 24.24.10.76. The feature was first announced to be readily available for Android beta users.
