Generative AI developments are still on the rise.

The top news from last week all revolves around generative AI, centering on the significant advancements and developments in the technological industry, with Apple Intelligence committing to US' AI Safety rules. Next up is the ramping development from OpenAI which now centers on SearchGPT, the AI-generated search engine experience on its chatbot.

Moreover, there is also the rising presence of generative AI in the gaming industry, with Amazon, Microsoft, and Tencent leveraging its latest tools.

Apple Adheres to US AI Safety Rules for Apple Intelligence

Despite not yet releasing the Apple Intelligence service for users, Apple has already committed itself to adhere to the Biden administration's renowned AI safety rules for the United States. Under these regulations, AI companies are required to ensure that their developments will remain bias-free and offer a safe experience for users in the tech landscape.

According to a report by Bloomberg, Apple has agreed to this set of guidelines that it will observe with its operations in the future.

Apple is now joining alongside tech rivals including Google, Microsoft, Meta, OpenAI, and Amazon who have voluntarily agreed to these rules.

OpenAI Introduces SearchGPT, its AI-powered Search

SearchGPT is now the latest from OpenAI that will deliver a new experience for users, but its recent introduction saw limited availability as of the time being, being part of its early testing. OpenAI's SearchGPT will deliver the generative AI-assisted search engine experience for users in the future, with 10,000 selected users to gain access to this now.

It was also revealed by OpenAI that SearchGPT will only be accessible via its renowned AI chatbot, ChatGPT, and will not be a standalone platform like Google or Bing.

ChatGPT is known for its different dedicated GPTs that users may add to the app, with SearchGPT soon to be available should OpenAI make it available.

Amazon, Microsoft, Tencent Brings AI Tools for Gaming

The world of video games is now seeing a rise in generative AI tools that will help in development, with the likes of Amazon, Microsoft, and Tencent recently offering it to creators during the ChinaJoy expo.

The recent event in Shanghai, China saw these three renowned tech firms promoting generative AI for gaming, with Tencent already leveraging various AI tools for developers. Tencent is famous for renowned mobile apps like PUBG Mobile, Metal Slug: Awakening, EA Sports FC Mobile, and more, as well as being the top video game company in revenue.

Microsoft has its Azure OpenAI already offering its services to Perfect World, a Chinese gaming company, particularly on its NPCs. Additionally, Amazon's AWS is also a service that is already leveraging AI, including Amazon Bedrock, for game developers.

Traditional AI has been available in the gaming industry since the early 1990s, but the latest from generative AI is already beginning to make its mark in gaming.
