OpenAI brings the GPT to search engines.

The latest from OpenAI is a generative AI-powered search engine called the 'SearchGPT,' with the company now offering it at limited availability for selected testers to experience. It would soon be part of ChatGPT once it is available to access publicly, similar to the list of GPTs available to add to the chatbot's experience, but this one was made by OpenAI.

This new product from OpenAI, is now entering the massive search engine market which has seen its fair share of AI advancements from the likes of Google and Microsoft Bing.

OpenAI unveiled its latest product, a new experience that brings generative AI to search via SearchGPT, with this service to deliver a new kind of experience that will mainly focus on search results. According to OpenAI, this is currently a temporary prototype of the technology, and it would be limited to 10,000 users for now that it will be selected from the waitlist.

The technology would deliver AI search features for its users and it is using the latest from OpenAI's large-language models.

This latest test is only available to a small group of users and publishers, and users are invited to join the waitlist to get the experience.

OpenAI's SearchGPT for ChatGPT vs. Google, Bing

SearchGPT would reportedly be included in ChatGPT when it releases in the future, available as a service in the renowned chatbot platform. It would deliver timely and relevant information from adequate sources, all while using generative AI to round up the information.

It will be rivaling the likes of Google Search and Microsoft Bing who both offer AI-powered search engines available now.

OpenAI's Plans for Bringing AI to Search

Earlier this year, several reports behind OpenAI's development behind developing a web search product and leveraging its AI capabilities have surfaced in the tech industry. It would directly contest against Google's search engine which is known for deploying Gemini, its latest multimodal AI, alongside the latest feature known as AI Overviews.

More concrete evidence popped up later on behind the plans for OpenAI's ChatGPT-based search engine to be coming soon, particularly with a new logo that lists a domain. It was revealed that this service would be under the "search.chatgpt.com" and this address also confirmed that it will be available in its chatbot and not as a standalone service.

The previous rumors and speculations claim that this is OpenAI's move to rival the largest and most used search engine in the world, Google, and is known for its dominant presence on the web. Now, this move by OpenAI took shape with SearchGPT, a ChatGPT-based search engine that is in limited availability for testing, and soon coming as a new GPT of the chatbot.
