Mercedes-Benz is now expanding on its EV charging stations across Interstate 5, now teaming up with Starbucks to deliver 400kW electric vehicle chargers available to access. The new charging stations would be present where Starbucks coffee shops are available, all across the iconic Interstate 5, following the new plans of the automaker.
As much as 100 Starbucks locations will feature Mercedes-Benz's EV charging stations, following last year's induction of its first station.
Mercedes-Benz, Starbucks Team Up to Bring EV Chargers Across I-5
A teaser revealed by Mercedes-Benz USA confirmed its partnership with Starbucks, with both companies teaming up to deliver new electric vehicle charging hubs across Interstate 5. According to a report from The Verge, the German car manufacturer would install new charging stations in 100 Starbucks locations in the stretch of the I-5.
This historical stretch of road is known for traversing the West Coast starting at Canada and down to Mexico.
This is the next step towards Mercedes-Benz's plans to install 2,500 EV charging stations worldwide, with its first one opening last year in Atlanta, in partnership with ChargePoint. In this specific location, Mercedes-Benz and ChargePoint delivered its 400kW fast chargers for EVs to utilize.

Mercedes-Benz would be responsible for all the changes in these Starbucks locations, claimed The Verge, as the technology and its installation would be fulfilled by the German automaker. Starbucks would only need to provide the space to accommodate the charging hubs in the parking area of its coffee shops.
The $1 billion project's 50 percent would come from MN8 Energy, helping Mercedes-Benz in its program.
Mercedes-Benz's Electrification Program
The renowned German luxury car company, Mercedes-Benz, is known for committing itself to the future of the automotive world, diving deep towards its electrification program for clean energy solutions. The company previously announced its plans to improve its EV motor factory which will expand more of its production to reach 1 million units per year.
Last year, the company also announced its commitment to expanding its charging solutions in the United States in partnership with ChargePoint, also including other international locations. This is the first EV fast charger of the company that opened in Atlanta, boasting of its 400kW charging speeds under its $1 billion budget for this expansion.
Creating electric vehicles is only the first step of the equation that would eventually deliver clean energy solutions to the world, with the next to consider charging. Now, Mercedes-Benz is looking to expand more of its charging hubs in the country together with Starbucks, with its new program focusing across the long stretch of the iconic Interstate 5.
