A new leak released via Reddit unveiled an upcoming game called Alien: Rogue Incursion, and it is revealed to be codenamed Project Macondo, with Cold Iron Studio still set to be its developer. The same team is known for 2021's Aliens: Fireteam Elite, with this game also regarded as Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2, a game that will succeed the one released three years ago.

It is also known that AFE was a PvE shooter that offered co-op for gamers, but this new game, Rogue Incursion, will expand more on what it had to offer with new weapons, enemies, and mechanics.

Moreover, it will remain a third-person shooter and a co-op game, with players getting to choose between campaigning with a three-person AI-controlled squad or other gamers.

Aliens' Film and Gaming Franchise

The renowned movie, Alien, by director Ridley Scott is one of the most popular films in the world, with the original one released in 1979 and has since sparked a franchise that delivered a total of eight movies to date. In 2020, there were talks behind a new Alien movie from its original director, also known for leading 2017's Alien: Covenant, the latest in the series.

Despite being most famous as a film franchise, it has been adopted into games and it is known to have received critical acclaim in the industry, with various titles available since the original PlayStation days. To date, one of the most popular games based on the film franchise was Alien: Isolation, and it has since been available on the PlayStation, Xbox, PC, Nintendo Switch, and mobile (iOS and Android).

The latest from the franchise is 2023's Aliens: Dark Descent which is a tactical video game from Tindalos Interactive and 20th Century Games, with this possibly seeing a new successor to continue its legacy. The leak now unveiled Alien: Rogue Incursion, a.k.a. Project Macondo, which will follow 2021's Aliens: Fireteam Elite, with the new game looking to deliver a new kind of gameplay, alongside another one for 2025.
