Generative AI is known for creating different illustrations and realistic portraits, but a recent 'Miss AI' competition brought the world's first AI-generated beauty contest for female faces made using the technology.

The competition received backlash for its depictions of female contestants generated using AI, with the winner, "Kenza Layli" from Morroco also facing criticism. Layli is a fictional social media influencer on Instagram who was made to represent an online personality made entirely from AI, also known for having 200,000 followers on the platform.

Experts and ethics experts claim that there is confusion about what was judged by the competition, whether it's AI creators or the AI personalities. Moreover, its beauty standards were also questioned due to its "idealized version" of real people.
