Waabi is leveraging the use of AI to test how self-driving trucks perform on the road in different scenarios. What's with this closed-loop simulator?

Waabi was the brainchild of Raquel Urtasun who founded it in 2021. It's not a typical platform for self-driving vehicles since it's all in with its AI-first approach.  Unlike traditional companies using real-world testing, Waabi is taking a quite different path here. This translates to a more efficient, scalable, and safer solution for autonomous vehicles.

Waabi Driver Inside a Closed-Loop Sim

Inside the Waabi World, there's a Waabi Driver that you won't find in other "worlds." In this virtual environment, it acts as the AI brain where it can adapt to the changes happening in its surroundings.

According to FoxNews, it can even show you how it explores the real model of a road. To give you a clearer visual about it,  imagine a student driver receiving unlimited practice in every possible situation, all within a safe and controlled space.

Thinking Like a Human, Driving Like a Pro

The Waabi Driver isn't your standard car-following algorithm. It's a next-generation AI model capable of perception, abstraction, and reasoning - skills that mirror human drivers. This allows the system to navigate unfamiliar situations with ease, a critical skill for unpredictable long-haul trucking environments.

Trucking into the Future with Waabi

Waabi prioritizes autonomous trucking, a sector ripe for innovation. Driver shortages, safety concerns, and environmental impact plague the industry, creating a perfect storm for change.

Waabi's technology promises to be a game-changer. With ongoing commercial pilots in Texas, the company aims for fully driverless operations by 2025.

Beyond the Road: The Waabi Vision Extends

While trucking marks the initial focus, Urtasun's vision extends far beyond the highway. Waabi's adaptable technology has the potential to revolutionize various fields, including robotaxis, warehouse robotics, and even humanoid robots. As Urtasun aptly states, "This technology is extremely, extremely powerful."

Waabi's AI-powered solution promises to usher in a new era of autonomous transportation, starting with the trucking industry and potentially transforming the world as we know it.

Meanwhile, Tesla's new patent teased that an automated sanitization system is coming to robotaxi cars. This also clearly indicates that the automaker is preparing to launch the upcoming fleet of Tesla Cybercabs.

Based on the patent filed on February 21, 2023, the sanitation system will be produced for cars or any vehicles shared among multiple passengers.

What's more, it boasts a sensor system that can detect the humidity of the air and even the current temperature inside the vehicle.
