YouTube released a powerful update to its eraser tool recently. This revamped feature allows you to easily remove copyrighted music from your videos while preserving the rest of your audio, such as dialogue and sound effects.
For content creators who are always greeted with copyright strikes on their used audio for their clips, this is finally the solution you've been waiting to see after some time.
Say Goodbye to Frustrating Audio Editing
Previously, creators faced challenges when dealing with copyrighted music claims. Traditional editing methods often involved removing entire video segments or manually muting sections, disrupting the flow of your content.
Now with AI-powered precision, YouTube's new eraser tool utilizes an advanced AI algorithm. This technology pinpoints and removes only the copyrighted song, leaving the rest of your audio untouched, YouTube chief Neal Mohan writes on X.
What's more, this ensures a seamless editing experience without altering your intended message.
Muting as an Alternative
While impressively accurate, the support page acknowledges the possibility of the algorithm missing the mark on specific occasions, TechCrunch spotted.
In such instances, creators can choose the option to "Mute all sound in the claimed segments." This allows you to silence potentially copyrighted audio sections without sacrificing the entirety of your video.
"This edit might not work if the song is hard to remove. If this tool doesn't successfully remove the claim on a video, you can try other editing options, such as muting all sound in the claimed segments or trimming out the claimed segments," the company said.
Reclaiming Control of Your Content
Once you've successfully edited your video using the eraser tool, YouTube automatically removes the content ID claim. This claim flag is triggered by the platform's system when it detects copyrighted material in uploaded clips.
This update empowers creators with greater control over their content. By eliminating tedious manual editing and offering a precise solution, the eraser tool streamlines the video editing process, allowing creators to focus on what matters most - creating stellar content.
Late last month, Tech Times reported that YouTubers could soon mention or tag other users in the comments section. Just like on Instagram, X, or Facebook, all they have to do is utilize @symbol followed by the name of the person or channel you want to tag.
For no apparent reason, the test for this feature was initially restricted. However, the browser version was not affected by such changes.
Other upcoming features that the video-streaming platform currently experiments with are the updated online Watch page, Smart Downloads, and YouTube's conversational AI.
It should be noted that there's a high chance that these features will only be available to Premium subscribers before they reach the group of free users.
