Apart from new social media features, Meta is also focused on new AI developments that its platforms can access, including the latest WhatsApp beta, which was discovered to bring a new capability. In the recent update, it was seen that users may ask Meta AI to transform their photos into AI-generated versions, and users may do this by uploading their images and prompting the changes they want.
Like many AI image editors, this new feature on WhatsApp leverages the Meta AI chatbot to deliver more capabilities to enhance their chosen snaps.
WhatsApp: Meta AI to Transform User Photos with Generative AI
WABetaInfo released a new report about a recent spotting on WhatsApp's Android beta. The latest 2.24.14.13 update delivers a way to get more from the Meta AI chatbot on the messaging app. This new feature centers on generative AI capabilities, allowing users to transform photos of themselves using generative AI that is now available with the chatbot.
Users only need to use the latest keyword for this transformation by tapping "Imagine Me." They will then be asked to take photos of themselves to use for the generation.
Users may also bring up this feature by typing in a command on all chats, "@MetaAI imagine me," which will initiate the prompt.
AI-fy Yourself: WhatsApp Leverages Meta AI for Enhancements
Through this new WhatsApp beta feature, users may AI-fy themselves and transform their uploaded photos into different scenarios, such as exploring deep space or a forest. Meta AI claimed that users may leverage their imagination to use this feature and enjoy transforming photos despite being mere selfies.
Users must also opt-in to access this new Imagine Me experience on WhatsApp's Meta AI.
Meta AI on WhatsApp: The New Experience
Last year, Meta went massive with its introduction of generative AI to its social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp. Powered by its large Llama language model (LLM), one of the first features available was AI stickers, which users may create via prompts only. However, it saw controversy as it showed political bias by adding guns to Palestine only.
However, the official integration of Meta AI to WhatsApp's platform was only made official last April, and it centered on AI image generation for all users to access. It was first made available on the beta version of the app in the United States, allowing users to create new images out of text prompts only, with users only needing to use the keyword "Imagine."
Currently, the Meta AI chatbot available across its different social networking platforms is powered by Llama-3, its latest generative AI model, also known as open-access. Both WhatsApp and Meta are improving this experience on the instant messaging app, with the Meta AI chatbot now capable of transforming human photos, including that of a user, by prompting it with "Imagine Me."
