This Mini Robot Uses Color To Teach Programming Skills

If you are a techie, you're probably always on the hunt for new gadgets. Whether you are looking for a fun way to teach your kids, or just want to sharpen your personal programming skills, then this gadget is worth checking out.

A mini robot that uses color to read and follow directions, the Ozobot combines a creative gaming experience while teaching robotics, logic and reasoning.

Ozobot has a series of sensors on its underside, which allow it to read color codes presented on a path. It can follow paths drawn on a white piece of paper, phone or tablet.

The colors program Ozobot, causing it to react and behave differently depending on the sequences. When Ozbot travels down a colored line, its LED light will change to that color. There are also color codes that will program the robot to complete tasks. For example, drawing a blue, red, blue dot sequence followed by a black dot will tell the robot to turn around and go back in the opposite direction.

Ozobot comes with game boards, tracks and mazes including "Ozobot Brain Teasers," which help kids of all ages master sequential programming. Gaming boards are also available for download and have been developed based around Core/SEM curriculum.

This mini robot is also an interactive game piece that makes learning algorithms fun. Download the app from the App store or Google Play to draw your own tracks and mazes directly on your iPad. You can also have Ozobots compete against each other, or make them dance to music.
