Owners faced a massive problem with the entire Pixel 6 lineup when factory resetting their devices, which led to bricking, but Google now detailed a way to avoid it.
This problem has been plaguing Pixel 6 owners for quite some time now, and the company has already acknowledged it, promising a fix soon to prevent future problems.
Google: Here's How to Factory Reset Pixel 6 Without Bricking
According to a new support document from Google, the company is now acknowledging that there are bricking issues whenever factory resetting the Pixel 6 lineup, and there is a fix for avoiding them. This affects the Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, and Pixel 6a devices, and its main problem is with Android 14.
Google attributed the latest system update to the root of the problem. Despite disputing the need to factory reset the device, Google still offers a recommended method for avoiding these bugs.
First, users who have already updated to the latest Android 14 version must only leave the device powered on and idle for 15 minutes. This is after the reboot when the installer does its job of updating the device.
Next, Google recommends factory resetting the Pixel 6 lineup before updating to the latest system version to avoid the bug.
Google is Working on a Fix for Pixel 6's Factory Reset Bug
For now, Google is asking for any feedback on their recommendations if users ever encounter problems after following them.
That being said, Google promised that a fix would arrive soon to avoid the need to follow these methods to safely factory reset the Pixel 6 devices.
Google and Its Pixel Smartphone Lineup
The latest from Google's renowned Pixel smartphone lineup is already focusing on the next device, with the company making its upcoming event earlier by almost two months than expected. As July came, Google confirmed that its Pixel 9 showcase would arrive by August 13, debuting the latest smartphone development for the world to see.
Among the new features available on most Pixel devices is the arrival of Gemini Nano, Google's latest multimodal AI model that was made for smartphones. Through Gemini Nano, the Pixel 8 and other eligible devices may now take advantage of the generative AI features available from the new model, which also offers significant features for apps like Photos, Google Workspace, and more.
While Google may be focusing on a new horizon with these latest features and experiences, that does not mean that old devices cannot access them. The Pixel 6 is not yet left behind, but it is currently facing issues with factory resetting, leading to bricking. Google is advising not to update it yet or at least do it after some time has passed.
