The next product from Starlink is the new Mini Dish, a smaller, more portable version of its renowned satellite dish. It was meant for users to take anywhere and enjoy high-speed internet at all times. Reviews have already been made regarding the Mini Dish. While many are praising the device and what it has to offer, there are also several negative remarks regarding it.

That said, it is a promising portable internet service from Starlink, which now offers a smaller version of its original satellite internet receiver.

Starlink Mini Dish: Portability and Performance is Good

A new report from PC Mag surveyed the early owners of the Starlink Mini Dish after it was offered to them by SpaceX to purchase and try. Many of its users were pleased with what it had to offer. SpaceX offered it for $599, which was more expensive than the Standard satellite dish meant for homes.

Starlink made a mini Dish to bring around with them, and it is smaller compared to the original release, with many claiming that it is indeed portable.

Users also claimed that its performance is also good, outputting high-speed internet on their usage whenever it was needed.

Additionally, it was easy to set up and align with a satellite flying overhead, with one account claiming it only took three minutes after being taken out of the box.

Mini Dish Cons: Data Caps, Limited Charging Options

However, there were negative comments about the Mini Dish as well. Some of its cons claimed that the experience gave them data caps. Unlike the Standard's unlimited data access, Mini Dish users are only given 50GB of monthly allocation.

Customers also noted that SpaceX should have offered more charging options as it is currently limited, wishing for it to be easily hooked up to a car's AUX power outlets or power banks.

Starlink and Its Satellite Internet Offers For All

The renowned company SpaceX is also known for its massive efforts to provide an out-of-this-world internet connection via Starlink, powered by its satellites to beam the service to different parts of the globe. It has been expanding its reach to different countries and territories, with one of its most recent launches in Bali, Indonesia.

Apart from the satellite internet experience that could be used via Starlink's dedicated satellite dish receivers on the ground, the company is also looking to launch its direct service for users. This is called the Starlink Direct to Cell service, which would bring satellite cellular connection straight to smartphones. In the US, it has partnered with T-Mobile to deliver the experience.

There are ongoing expansions to Starlink's services, from adding more satellites to its location in orbit to its upcoming Direct to Cell that would no longer require the satellite dishes to connect. Mini Dish is the latest tech from the company, which promotes portability, and while it achieved success in that area, the data caps and limited charging options hinder accessing its full potential, according to its early customers.
