The Biggest Video Games Coming This Summer 2024

Remakes, DLCs, and just cozy games.

Summer 2024 packs some heat with various games on almost all modern gaming platforms. Reportedly joining this firing season is a new Elden Ring DLC, PlayStation 5's Astro, Nintendo's Luigi, and even characters from well-known movies and TV shows like "Back to the Future," "The Walking Dead," "The Mummy" and "Jurassic Park" in "Funko Fusion."

The "Shadow of the Erdtree" DLC for Elden Ring, a video game expansion pack from publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment and developer FromSoftware, builds upon the popular 2022 fantasy game. There's a new plot, region, armor, and weaponry to explore.

Before attempting to get the DLC, players must ensure that they have already defeated the necessary bosses-Mohg, Starscourge Radahn, and Lord of Blood-in the original game.

Also out now is a stellar Nintendo Switch exclusive remake, "Luigi's Mansion 2 HD." Players will naturally take on the role of Luigi in this remaster of Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon for 3DS (2013), as he is compelled to engage in some ghost-hunting by Professor E. Gadd.

The professor hoped to research ghosts in Evershade Valley, but the ghouls turned ill-natured overnight. Gadd believes this behavior shift is related to the Dark Moon's absence, which normally calms the spirits in the valley.

Luigi is entrusted with locating the Dark Moon's corrupted shards to restore the valley to normal. He does this by solving puzzles, battling ghosts, and exploring eerie areas of Gloomy Manor with a customized Nintendo DS. The game is also enjoyable to play with friends with an unlockable local cooperative gaming mode.

Astro, Funko Pops, and Pals

Releasing on September 13, 2024, "Funko Fusion" is another entertaining game with many pop-culture references. Developer/publisher 10:10 Games' action-adventure game lets players take on characters from at least 20 films and TV shows in Funko form, like Freddy from "Five Nights At Freddy's," He-Man from "Masters of the Universe" and so much more.

PlayStation 5's mascot, Astro, is also set to venture into a new adventure in Astro Bot, which will be released this September 6 and take advantage of Dualsense's next-gen features.

Astro is looking for his crew in Astro Bot. He travels across space on a speeder fashioned like a DualShock Controller, visiting dozens of planets and encountering some well-known characters and locations from the PlayStation universe.

Palworld, PocketPair's renowned game, was also recently hinted at with a mysterious message concerning its name, which seems to indicate that the game will soon be available on the PlayStation. PocketPair is presently preparing for the June 27 release of its Sakurajima upgrade, which will be available to everyone later this week.

Shooting and Farming

Concord is another highly anticipated game for the PC and PlayStation 5. This is a forthcoming first-person shooter game by Sony Interactive Entertainment and Firewalk Studios. Players act as space mercenaries and engage in player-versus-player combat across the galaxy.

Akupara Games and SquareHusky have also released "Everafter Falls," a farming simulator game, for the Switch, Xbox Series S/X, and PlayStation 5. Although the little hamlet initially appears to be comfortable, there is a mystery surrounding it, and players will need to try to unravel it while engaging in all the typical cozy game activities like farming, fishing, and cooking. Expect to engage in some combat in the dungeons as well.
