The Find My Device network is still in its early stages, but Google says that it's expected to receive big improvements.
While it's a given that the tracking app has an appealing interface for users, the combined functionality of the app and trackers left much to be desired.
Find My Device Network Improvements Are Coming
As 9to5Mac reports, a Google spokesperson confirmed that enhancements are actively being developed. These upgrades aim to enhance the speed and accuracy of the crowd-sourced tracking system, addressing one of the most frustrating aspects of using primarily Bluetooth-based tracking devices.
"We are actively working to roll out enhancements to how the Find My Device network operates that will improve the speed and ability of locating lost items over the coming weeks. Devices are continuing to join the new Find My Device network, and we expect the network to grow, which will also help improve lost device findability," the company's spokesperson says.

Optimizing Bluetooth Settings
Aside from that, Google advises users with Bluetooth tags to adjust their settings within the Find My Device app to "with the network in all areas." This adjustment is said to improve the network's ability to locate lost items in lower-traffic areas, a significant concern given the current limitations of available trackers.
Augmented Reality and UWB Support
Future improvements may include support for locating trackers using augmented reality (AR) on devices with ultra-wideband (UWB) capabilities. While Google has not explicitly linked these AR enhancements to the promised improvements, Motorola's announcement of the first UWB-compatible tracker for the Find My Device network is promising.
UWB technology, supported by devices like the Pixel 6 Pro, 7 Pro, 8 Pro, Fold, and Pixel Tablet, excels at accurately pinpointing the location of UWB-compatible devices.
When Will These Improvements Arrive
Unfortunately, Google has not provided a specific timeline for when these enhancements will be implemented, only indicating that they will roll out in the coming weeks.
In other news, Reddit has issued a warning to AI firms and scrapers who have been getting their information without consent. It was clear that the front page of the internet is not allowing third-party crawlers anymore to dwell on Reddit's data.
If ever Reddit catches a company accessing any form of data from them, it will be immediately blocked.
Elsewhere, Snapchat is rolling out new safety tools to protect teenagers from sextortion scams. Since it's easy to send friend requests to everyone on the platform, Snap will now make it harder this time.
In Snapchat, young users can now receive alerts if they get a message from someone who has been reported by other people. The same goes for those who appear to be unfamiliar or outside the teen's circle.
