Dr Disrespect Fired by Midnight Society Game Studio He Co-Founded Amid Twitch Ban Controversy

Midnight Society has decided to part ways with Dr Disrespect.

Renowned streamer Herschel "Guy" Beahm, famously known as Dr Disrespect, was recently fired by Midnight Society, the gaming company he co-founded. The termination came after two ex-Twitch employees shared their insights into the circumstances leading to Beahm's permanent ban on the platform.

The employees revealed that Beahm had used Whispers, Twitch's now-discontinued messaging service, to communicate with a minor and discuss meeting up at TwitchCon. The famous streamer is currently under fire because of this.

Midnight Society Kicks Out Its Co-Founder, Dr Disrespect

A new post on Midnight Society's account on X discussed the current issue its co-founder is facing. In its post, the gaming company said it was "terminating" its relationship with Dr Disrespect immediately.

The company noted it became aware of the allegation against Herschel "Guy" Beahm on Friday night and started speaking with the parties involved.

"And in order to maintain our principles and standards as a studio and individuals, we needed to act. For this reason, we are terminating our relationship with Guy Beahm immediately," the Midnight Society wrote.

"While these facts are difficult to hear and even more difficult to accept, it is our duty to act with dignity on behalf of all individuals involved, especially the fifty-five developers and families we have employed along with our community of players," it added.

Midnight Society is a game studio that Beahm co-founded in 2021 with former Call of Duty developer Robert Bowling and others.

Twitch Ban of Dr Disrespect in 2020

In 2020, Twitch unexpectedly banned Dr Disrespect, one of its most prominent streamers, without providing any explanation. At the time, Herschel "Guy" Beahm was among Twitch's top stars, boasting approximately four million followers and having inked a lucrative two-year exclusivity deal with the platform.

Despite his prominence, Twitch and Beahm remained tight-lipped about the reasons behind his sudden removal. Shortly after the ban, Beahm expressed frustration, revealing that Twitch had not provided him with any explanation for the account suspension.

A year after his Twitch ban, Beahm announced his lawsuit against the platform, seeking financial compensation. During this period, he acknowledged that he had been informed of the reason behind the ban but chose not to disclose it publicly.

A year later, Beahm confirmed that the legal dispute with Twitch had been settled, stating that he had resolved his legal dispute with Twitch with no party admitting any wrongdoing.

Midnight Society's recent announcement came less than an hour after Beahm concluded his first stream since the allegations surfaced. In the stream, Beahm said he was "fatigued" and considered stepping away from social media. He added that he might also "step away" from Midnight Society as part of that process.
