Nintendo Switch Sports may have been the last game anyone was expecting to get a new free update during the latest Nintendo Direct presentation, but Basketball is officially coming to one of Switch's most popular games.
Nintendo Switch Sports is available to almost 13 million users and will soon improve. The sports simulation game initially featured football, volleyball, tennis, badminton, bowling, and chambara. After the release, golf was included in a free upgrade, and one more game will soon be accessible.
Nintendo Switch Sports will introduce a new basketball gameplay mode in mid-2024. In 2v2 games, players must dribble, pass, and shoot to score points.
Basketball may be played locally or online and utilizes the Joy-Con's motion controls, just like all other Switch Sports titles. In addition, you can play alone by participating in three-point contests and trying to make as many baskets as possible in the allotted time.
In a different multiplayer basketball variant, four players compete to be the first to five baskets while shooting simultaneously.
Nintendo Direct June 2024
The Nintendo Direct for the Switch revealed many anticipated and surprising games. One of the most anticipated releases in the Direct is Super Mario Party Jamboree, which will debut on the Nintendo Switch on October 17 and provide players with the giant version of the cherished series.
Along with a few new games, Jamboree features two reworked maps from the first two games and relocates the party to an island resort. With more than 110 different minigames, the clip purported to feature the greatest selection of Mario Party minigames to date.
Switch Sports Basketball and Super Mario Party Jamboree is joined by several new games, including 'The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom,' a new RPG featuring Nintendo's beloved brothers, 'Mario and Luigi Brotherhood,' and 'Metroid Prime 4: Beyond,' which is scheduled for release in 2025. The latter game puts players in the role of Princess Zelda after Link vanishes.
The June Nintendo Direct is one of the final presentations before the anticipated early 2025 release of the Nintendo Switch successor.
The Future of the Switch
At the beginning of May, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa announced that the company planned to unveil a new game system during this fiscal year, which ends in March 2025. Furukawa claims that since the Nintendo Switch was first released in 2015 under the name 'NX,' it will have been more than nine years.
There had been months of heated speculation and hearsay about the 'Switch 2' at the time. Furukawa tried to calm rumors by outlining specific targets and managing fan expectations for the remainder of the year.
Even though its life cycle is ending, the Nintendo Switch is still a good system with regular updates. The most recent announcement from Nintendo was that starting June 10, its Switch, Switch Lite, and Switch OLED devices will no longer include X (formerly Twitter).
