Android 15 is progressing steadily, with Beta 3 now available for Pixel devices enrolled in the beta program. This release comes roughly a month after Beta 2 and introduces the much-anticipated Private Space feature, among other enhancements and bug fixes.

However, the main highlights of Beta 3 are the new improvements in biometrics and settings. Let's see how game-breaking are these updates for the upcoming Android OS.

In case your phone's biometrics isn't working well, Android 15 will help you redo your face or fingerprint scan. This is currently exclusive to beta users.

Before we dive into the improved biometrics and slicker settings, let's first know what is Private Space.

According to TechRadar, this feature is now fully operational in Beta 3. This functionality allows users to hide and lock sensitive apps, enhancing privacy and security on their devices. Previously seen in an unfinished form, it is now ready for beta users to test and explore.

Additional Changes and Improvements

Beta 3 also includes several minor updates. One notable change is that app widgets will gray out when you force close an app, as these apps can no longer automatically relaunch. Additionally, as expected, there are numerous bug fixes to improve overall performance and stability.

How to Get Android 15 Beta 3

If you own a Google Pixel 6 or newer and are part of the beta program, you can access Beta 3. The update should arrive automatically, but you can also manually check for it by navigating to Settings, then System.

From here, go to Software update, System update, and finally, Check for Updates section.

Upcoming Features in Android 15

While Beta 3 brings substantial improvements, several other features are anticipated for future Android 15 versions:

Enhanced Settings Layout

Reports suggest that the settings screen will undergo a redesign, with the top-level settings page organized into visually distinct sections. This new layout aims to group similar settings pages together, making it easier to navigate and find specific settings.

Improved Biometric Authentication

Another expected improvement is in biometric authentication. The system will be able to automatically delete face or fingerprint scans if they aren't functioning correctly, prompting users to set them up again, per Android Authority. This change could make biometric login methods faster and more reliable.

Revised Fast Charging Labels

Evidence also indicates that Android 15 will update its fast charging labels, changing the threshold from 7.5W to 20W. While 20W isn't exceptionally fast by today's standards, it is a significant improvement over the misleading 7.5W label.

Future of Android 15

It's important to note that while these features are being developed, there's no guarantee they will appear in the final release. Google may decide to hold back certain features. However, there's a strong possibility that most of these enhancements will be included in the finished version of Android 15.

Based on previous trends, the final version of Android 15 is likely to launch between August and October. For those eager to try the new features ahead of the official release, participating in the beta program is a great option.

Android 15 is indeed an exciting mobile OS on top of Private Space, biometrics tweaks, and major settings upgrades. It also boasts editable texts, digital car key support, and other non-AI features.

Aside from that, the new software update also supports Passkeys, a straight replacement for the traditional passwords we know.
