The touted "next generation" of CarPlay is coming soon, and while for years, the company did not provide any specific applications or updates, the recent WWDC 2024 provided more information. First, Apple's new CarPlay would be strictly wireless, leaving behind the wired experiences that have been present for a long time now to connect one's device to the infotainment system.
Going wireless for CarPlay is one of the most important upgrades it could get, now centering on the next-generation features it has available for all.
Next-Gen Apple CarPlay to Go Strictly Wireless
The so-called next-gen Apple CarPlay is strictly wireless, and according to The Verge, this is what the company unveiled last week. There are still no concrete claims or designs for the new CarPlay, and this is because Apple has reached a point where the new system would work more with what the brand or manufacturer has in mind for their infotainment.
This is made possible through several features of the next-gen CarPlay, which Apple Developers unveiled last week regarding the new experience.
Apple's new "punch-through UI" now allows manufacturers to design its interface alongside links to other in-car controls over CarPlay. Cupertino provides a toolkit that makes it more customizable for both specifications to be present here.

No More Wires for CarPlay, Other Features
In Apple's showcase, a new architecture is already in place for the next-gen CarPlay, offering a massive experience to deliver for car owners soon.
Apart from this, a new CarPlay UI is also in place, but it does not necessarily constrain manufacturers in its design. It would also feature custom experiences that match what brands want to offer, like HVAC controls, reverse camera displays, or other technologies like 360 cameras and more.
Apple CarPlay and What It Offers
In the past months and years, it is known that the tech and automotive industries did not exactly see eye-to-eye, as some car brands opted out of dedicated connections for infotainment systems like Apple's CarPlay. However, some still put massive importance on why it should be kept on vehicles, with Ford and Porsche heading it.
That being said, Tesla, General Motors, and others are still pushing forward with their plans for infotainment systems that disable CarPlay and Android Auto.
Despite this, Apple is still determined to deliver the next-generation CarPlay for the world to experience, centering on a more intuitive and feature-rich experience for partner car manufacturers coming in 2024.
Porsche and Aston Martin are the two brands partnering with Apple to deliver this new CarPlay experience, with a promise of the "ultimate" iPhone experience. After the massive revelations in WWDC 2024, CarPlay also received specific upgrades, including the fully wireless experience, along with its next-gen improvements.
