ChatGPT's Free Version Can Now Read, Analyze PDFs

ChatGPT can now read lengthy PDFs for you.

ChatGPT can now help users summarize, analyze, and understand lengthy PDF documents with its recently upgraded free version. A new update allowed OpenAI's chatbot to read screenshots, other documents, and photos.

OpenAI recently upgraded the free version of ChatGPT to reportedly make AI tools accessible to "as many as possible." The new features debuted in May, the same time GPT-4o was released.

According to reports, the new ChatGPT, which analyzes PDFs, can produce content from the text, answer any queries users may have about their document, and deliver far more concise and readable summaries.

The new feature can be accessed by clicking on the small paper clip icon located to the left of the command entry field. Upon clicking, the user will be presented with three alternatives: Upload from the computer, Connect to Google Drive, and Connect to Microsoft OneDrive. Users may click whichever is appropriate and then upload the PDF file for review.

The content will then be forwarded to the chatbot assistant, and users may inquire more, for example, "Could you sum up this article for me?" Alternatively, customers can ask for a more involved activity, such as requesting to structure any action items into an email and separate them.

ChatGPT Edu

As OpenAI continues to upgrade ChatGPT, more AI tools are becoming available to different people. Most recently, OpenAI also released a new version of ChatGPT tailored to universities, dubbed ChatGPT Edu. This edition provides sophisticated functionality for educational use and access to the most recent AI model.

ChatGPT Edu is helpful for various academic disciplines since it may be tailored to match particular educational objectives or themes. The sophisticated GPT-4o model will power OpenAI's newest product.

This one performs better than earlier iterations, demonstrating enhanced intelligence and efficiency in handling many types of data, including arithmetic and coding problems. Its message limit is also substantially higher than ChatGPT's free edition. The versatility of ChatGPT Edu is a noteworthy benefit.

Universities and AI

OpenAI claims colleges can use their data to alter the model to meet specific needs. This makes it possible for them to specialize in areas relevant to the organization's learning environment.

For example, a language school could program the chatbot to have dialogues with pupils that help them practice and learn a new language. The emphasis on privacy that ChatGPT Edu places is another important component. OpenAI guarantees that the information handled by this version won't be utilized to train publicly accessible model sets.

It's interesting to note that some colleges used ChatGPT earlier but were using the "Enterprise" version. This trend led OpenAI to create ChatGPT Edu, a customized solution with increased capabilities that precisely targets the special requirements of academic contexts.
