There is a new rumor behind Apple's plans for its devices, and it is to make them thinner than before, with a slimmed-down version coming for three of its top technologies. The report claimed that it would be applied to the likes of the new MacBook Pro, iPhone, and Apple Watch, featuring a slimmer body compared to its previous releases in the future.
It was revealed that this size inspiration was thanks to Apple's latest development of the iPad Pro, which offered a thinner, lighter, and more compact body in its showcase last May.
Thinner iPhone, MacBook Pro, Apple Watch Coming?
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman revealed in his latest PowerOn newsletter that Cupertino will soon produce a thinner body for the iPhone, MacBook Pro, and Apple Watch. This will be Apple's new direction after it has slightly deviated from its design path. Lately, it has centered on thicker releases to accommodate improved features and capabilities for each device.
There was the Ultra variant of the Apple Watch. The latest MacBook Pros were also made thicker for improved battery capacity, new ports, and more, as was the iPhone, which offered bigger batteries and cameras.
However, that will change in the future releases of Apple as it will return to its focus on slimming down its devices, making them lighter and thinner.
Size Change Coming Like the iPad Pro
This was already possible with the M4 iPad Pro unveiled last May. With its significant size change, Apple is now looking to apply it to its other tech.
A possible iPhone 17 with a slimmer variant may arrive, which also applies to the MacBook Pro and Apple Watch, offering a new size standard.
Apple's iPad Pro Event
Apple's May 2024 'Let Loose' event delivered on its new lineup for iPads, centering on two releases: the M4-powered iPad Pro and the M2-equipped iPad Air. The iPad Pro received the first iteration of the M4, offering a slimmer body, a significant change since the last release. However, it was the iPad Air that delivered a significant development with its new 12.9-inch variant.
The thinner size of the iPad Pro has been one of its most defining features in this release, as Apple also delivered a complementary slimmer Magic Keyboard to accompany it. Moreover, the most powerful iPad Pro yet offers a special upgrade option centered on the 1TB option, which also provides a 10-core CPU alongside its nanotexture matte glass.
Thanks to the M4 chip, the iPad Pro is now considered to be one of Apple's most powerful devices. It also set a standard for future sizes of other developments from Cupertino. Gurman believes that upcoming devices from Apple will deliver thinner sizes, centering on the soon-to-be-released iPhone 17, MacBook Pro, and Apple Watch, which will coincide with its Series X release.
