A list of upcoming titles for different gaming platforms from various publishers always gives gamers something to look forward to. Whether that be an official announcement or a rumored slate from a leak, such as the recent Epic Games database leak that gave several titles players can at least fathom.
Users of the gaming community ResetEra discovered the leak, and Wccftech later discovered it as well. ResetEra users have collected data from EpicDB, a third-party tool.
The leak lists several different future titles, some of which have their true titles recorded. The games featured include God of War Ragnarok, Sonic Superstars, Fallout 4, Oblivion, and Morrowind. It became public on June 11 after EpicDB extracted information from the Epic Titles Store.
It would be available on contemporary platforms and might eventually find its way onto a PC. However, the EpicDB list doesn't have the Final Fantasy IX remake listed under that specific name.
Users speculate that Momo, a codename for the Square Enix division, may be the title. A "momo deluxe upgrade DLC" is also mentioned, which could refer to an expansion or improved version of the game with extra benefits or in-game items.
There are also quite a few additional codenamed games. Among these are those that appear to be PC versions of Red Dead Redemption 1, Bioshock 4, and The Last of Us Part 2.
Even though there isn't any proof yet that any of these unannounced games exist, it appears Epic is reportedly not taking any chances. The Epic titles Store has been modified to prevent unpublished titles from showing up using third-party technologies.
Epic Games' database leak follows multiple gaming publishers continuing to get hit with unwarranted data breaches, revealing several projects before their official announcements. Most notably, Insomniac was hit by a ransomware gang in late 2023, which revealed most of its projects.
Insomniac Games' Data Breach
On December 12, 2023, the hacker group Rhysida leaked 1.67 terabytes of stolen data from Insomniac Games, which revealed key development footage of the highly anticipated Wolverine game.
The massive 1.3 million files of leaked data, which include important information, include Slack images, personnel files, confidential marketing and strategy documents, and a full release slate for the next 12 years.
Rhysida reportedly said that, allegedly, the ransomware gang sold the remaining files, leaving only 98% of the entire data set posted. The scale of the breach is larger than that of the Grand Theft Auto 6 hack from 2022.
The hacked files, which have been extensively shared on websites like Reddit and Imgur, reveal the full story and cast of Wolverine, as well as game files, animation and gameplay videos, and design documents for the upcoming Marvel game.
Release Slate and Sensitive Information Exposed
Furthermore, a projected slate through 2035 is outlined in the leaked material, which goes far into Insomniac's intentions. Plans for more Spider-Man and Ratchet & Clank games, the release of new intellectual property, and the possible inclusion of Wolverine in an ongoing X-Men game series are all included.
The documents leaked by the breach also reveal designs for an online game series based on Insomniac's Marvel superhero characters, albeit they could be modified.
Internal HR records, screenshots from Slack, and even the contents of many employees' devices are among the leaked files, however, it's unclear how much personal information belongs to Insomniac employees. As evidenced by earlier screenshots provided by Rhysida, the release has sparked worries regarding the possible inclusion of passport photos.
