GCA and Amazon Launches CyberFlex for Digital Natives

CyberFlex is an online platform that offers targeted resources such as interactive guides, free tools, and text alerts designed to prevent, mitigate, and combat various cyber risks.

Brian Cute, the Chief Operating Officer of GCA, emphasized the critical need for CyberFlex, noting that despite being labeled as "digital natives," young adults are increasingly vulnerable to cybercriminal activities.

The platform is strategically designed to engage this demographic on their preferred digital platforms. It aims to raise awareness about online risks and equip them with practical steps to safeguard their digital identities and financial security.

Scott Knapp, Director of Worldwide Buyer Risk Prevention at Amazon, underscored the prevalence of impersonation scams targeting consumers of all ages. He reiterated Amazon's commitment to consumer protection and highlighted their ongoing partnership with GCA to combat these scams effectively.

Knapp also emphasized the importance of educating young adults to recognize and avoid sophisticated scam tactics that exploit trust in well-known brands.

Vulnerability of Young People to Online Risks

GCA claimed that CyberFlex is not just a standalone effort but builds upon extensive research and insights gathered through surveys, focus groups, and independent studies it conducted alongside Amazon.

Their research revealed alarming trends indicating that despite their familiarity with digital platforms, young adults often lack awareness of online risks, are susceptible to financial scams like investment and cryptocurrency frauds, and tend to underreport incidents due to confusion or overconfidence.

The initiative also aims to foster a global community effort. GCA and Amazon are inviting like-minded organizations to support and promote CyberFlex, recognizing the collective responsibility to enhance digital literacy and resilience against cyber threats among young adults worldwide.

CyberFlex will host webinars engaging end users and industry partners to share best practices and solicit feedback on enhancing the platform's effectiveness as part of this collaborative approach.

Looking ahead, CyberFlex plans to expand its reach by launching a Japanese version later this year, catering to diverse linguistic and cultural contexts to ensure broad accessibility and impact.

GCA is inviting companies interested in contributing to this initiative to explore partnership opportunities and amplify the platform's outreach. However, GCA and Amazon have not yet specified the platform's release date or where it will be available.

"We assume 'digital natives' can avoid scams and risks online, but data shows the opposite. Instead, they are a growing target for cybercriminals. CyberFlex engages them where they live online and provides valuable resources to build a more trustworthy Internet," Cute said in a press release.
