Humane Alerts AI Pin Users That Charging Cases Pose Fire Hazard

A dangerous charging case.

Humane, the startup behind the viral AI pin, is now warning its users that the pin's charging case is a fire risk due to a battery quality issue.

The business informed the owners of the item that it had discovered a "quality issue" with the battery within the case, which allows customers to charge their AI pins on the move. Humane said it initiated an inquiry after receiving a single allegation of charging issues with the item, released earlier this year.

When customers purchase the Ai Pin for $699 or more, they receive a charging case that operates similarly to an AirPods case. It has also been available as a separate accessory at $149. However, the component is now noted as "out of stock" on the Humane website.

The incident is another setback for Humane, a high-profile firm that set out to provide a smartphone alternative. Customers and reviewers have criticized the AI Pin's difficult interface and lack of capabilities since its introduction in April.

According to the company's statement, their research revealed that the battery supplier was no longer fulfilling quality requirements and that some battery cells provided by this vendor might constitute a fire safety concern.

As a result, the organization promptly rejected this battery manufacturer and sought a replacement vendor to avoid similar problems and maintain its high-quality requirements.

Humane stated that consumers can continue to charge the gadget using the provided home charging port. The business did not indicate whether it would replace charging cases for Ai Pin owners or how long it would take to locate a substitute supplier.

Given the situation, AI Pin owners will receive two free months of the needed monthly membership.

Humane For Sale

Humane recently made headlines when the company contacted potential buyers for a sale price of between $750 million and $1 billion.

Imran Chaudhri and Bethany Bongiorno, a married pair with substantial experience at Apple Inc., founded Humane in 2018 to create a new AI-powered device that might compete with the iPhone. Sources said investors priced it at $850 million at the time.

AI Pin

The company has recently raised $230 million from several prominent investors, including OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. Humane's AI Pin was designed to integrate into everyday activities. However, it was ultimately sold to increase interactions with the environment.

Its features include AI-driven messaging that tailors messages to the user's voice, contextualization, and the AI Mic, which enables speedier search functionality.

Previous sources have also said that AI Pin offers a range of engagement choices. Users may talk normally, utilize the touchpad, make motions, or use the Laser Ink Display projected onto their hand. This screenless interface is designed to fade into the background while providing a versatile and engaging artificial intelligence experience.
