Tecno may release the Phantom V2 Flip later this year according to reports.
The anticipated Phantom V2 Flip has appeared on various certification and benchmarking platforms, revealing its features. According to Gadget 360, the FCC certification page shows that the device will be clamshell-style foldable.
Phantom V2 Flip Leaked Specs
The FCC listing also indicates that the Phantom V2 Flip would have dual-cell batteries with 3,410mAh and 1,180mAh capacities, totaling 4,590mAh, 15% more than its predecessor Phantom V Flip.
A graphic in the FCC description suggests a rectangular Phantom V2 Flip exterior instead of the circular cover screen. The top left of the cover screen vertically positions the camera and flash units.
The Tecno Phantom V2 Flip has a 6.9-inch full-HD+ flexible AMOLED inner screen and a 1.32-inch circular cover panel. Powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8050 SoC, the 4,000mAh battery supports 45W wired fast charging.
Moreover, the upcoming phone also features a 64-megapixel main sensor, a 13-megapixel wide-angle lens on the back, and a 32-megapixel front camera. According to the FCC label, the only memory configuration may be 8/256GB (like the V Flip).
Tecno has not commented on the second-generation foldable (it also has a Phantom V Fold), but if the Flip passes the FCC, it will be revealed soon, according to GSMArena.
Tecno Wants to Know Southeast Asian Aesthetic Preferences
Separately, Tecno has partnered with the Asian Communication Research Centre (ACRC) at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU Singapore) to study Southeast Asian consumers' skin tone and smartphone portrait imaging preferences.
This partnership shows Tecno's dedication to inclusiveness, capturing Southeast Asia's rich variety and beauty in every photograph, according to the company's media release.
The ACRC-TECNO research collaboration combines authoritative studies to improve TECNO's Universal Tone technology. For Southeast Asian images, targeted studies in Indonesia and the Philippines will produce cultural standards and exact skin tone norms.
These studies will help Tecno's smartphone portrait image technologies better suit Southeast Asian consumers' cultural variety. This fits Tecno's brand values of appreciating skin color, ethnicity, culture, and beauty.
Professor Jack Qiu, the Shaw Foundation Professor of Media Technology at NTU's Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information (WKWSCI), leads the research team, with assistance from Professor May O. Lwin, the WKWSCI Chair, and Associate Professors Elison Lim and Lewis Lim from NTU's Nanyang Business School.
Professor Qiu emphasized the importance of understanding Southeast Asian customers' unique aesthetic and image demands in light of the region's complex culture and tastes.
The partnership between Tecno and ACRC demonstrates its commitment to adapting smartphone picture images to Southeast Asian tastes. The smartphone maker uses scientific research to satisfy consumers' cultural preferences in developing markets.
After its successful cooperation with Leeds University, this is Tecno's second significant academic alliance. These agreements will help improve the firm's Universal Tone technology, launched last September to promote inclusive multi-skin tone imaging worldwide.
