Android's Gmail Toolbar to Feature Revamped Gemini AI Button, Similar to Workspace

Gmail's Gemini AI experience will be easily accessible from the top.

The latest discovery on Gmail for Android shows a revamped Gemini AI button that will help use the chatbot for various features like summarizing emails or creating messages, available right on the app's toolbar. However, this feature is not yet live, and it remains unknown when Google will deliver the update, but this discovery is an indication that it is coming soon.

It is known that Gmail's desktop version already has the Gemini AI button easily accessible from the top, as well as Workspaces, but the Android app's take is yet to come.

Android's Gmail app is getting a massive upgrade from Google soon, as according to AssembleDebug and Android Authority, Gemini AI will have its featured button right on its toolbar. This was recently discovered on Gmail's APK teardown, with the code suggesting that a dedicated Gemini button would soon appear on Gmail's toolbar that will take users directly to the AI.

However, this button is not yet enabled by Google, and there are no announcements or scoops yet regarding this feature's availability.

That being said, tapping Gemini's button would bring the text box users may write their prompts on and get the multimodal AI's services instantly.

Have Gemini Access Your Gmail and Messages

Gemini already can access your Gmail and the emails that were sent or received by the user. Through the new button, users may instantly ask Gemini for various automated or AI-generated actions like summarizing an email, creating a reply to a certain message, and more.

That being said, this is not entirely new for Google's Gemini availability on apps, as in the Workspace suite, users may already access the AI via the button on the toolbar, similar to what is coming for Android's Gmail.

Gemini AI's Availability on Google Apps

Google had Bard first before Gemini, and the company has made the AI chatbot available on various experiences under its umbrella for people to get the assistive features right on their hands. Last I/O 2024, Google announced that Gemini can better search for the media users are looking for with "Ask Photos" powered by the latest model and enhances the image search.

On the other hand, Google has also powered up its browser and search engine with the power of its multimodal AI technology, offering a new way to take advantage of generative search. Through Gemini, users would have the ability to deliver more concise information from the web through the likes of AI Overview, also bringing customizable options for further refinement.

AI on apps is no longer a new thing for Google's products, as well as other rivals in the industry that have integrated their models and experiences right into apps for users to enjoy. The next in line is Gmail for Android, soon getting the Gemini AI button right on its toolbar, offering easier access to the chatbot available at the top for all email-related assistance and queries.
