Meta's Ray-Ban Smart Glasses Can Now Share Directly to Instagram Stories

No Phone Needed!

Meta's Ray-Ban smart glasses can now directly upload Instagram stories, so no phone is needed.

The Instagram integration allows users to command the glasses to upload before or after snapping a picture. They can say, "Hey Meta, share my last photo to Instagram" or "post a photo to Instagram" before taking another, per The Verge.

Moreover, the Ray-Ban smart glasses are now compatible with Amazon Music and Calm, among other improvements.

Meta has teamed with Calm to provide mobile-guided meditation and mindfulness activities. Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses customers get a complimentary three-month Calm membership.

"As an added bonus, new Calm users can unlock a complimentary three-month subscription to Calm," Meta stated in the announcement. "Simply follow the on-screen prompts in the Meta View app to get started,"

The glasses now have access to Amazon Music streaming. Just say, "Hey Meta, play Amazon Music," to play a tailored playlist. Volume and audio playback may be controlled by touch or voice. After supporting Spotify, the glasses added Apple Music last month.

Meta said these additional features of the Ray-Ban smart glasses (available in iconic frames) will roll out "gradually."

Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses Powered By AI

The new Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses features launched a month after the wearable tech got an AI upgrade. In April, the brimming with technology Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses came equipped with an ultra-wide 12 MP camera and integrated audio.

Moreover, it also features an artificial intelligence assistant that helps users create, connect, and get things done. Meta AI lets Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses wearers operate the glasses with their voice and see real-time data, as reported by TechTimes.

In December, Meta began testing a multimodal AI upgrade that lets users query their glasses about what they are seeing and get useful replies or ideas since the smart glasses can see what users see.

Enhanced Music Experience

Meta's Ray-Ban smart glasses can stream Apple Music, providing a standalone listening experience, as reported previously.

The upgrade lets users stream their favorite music, artists, and playlists through the glasses, which also work as Bluetooth headphones with open-ear speakers. This allows customers to enjoy their music without opening the Apple Music app on their phones.

Users may play music, pick artists or albums, and listen to Apple Music playlists with voice control. Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses can stream and control playback with the "Hey Meta" command. They can ask Meta to identify the tune being played. Meta promises to keep Apple Music login details private.

Originally designed to capture first-person, vertical 1-minute Instagram Stories, the spectacles were known as Ray-Ban Stories. Last year, Meta introduced the Spectacles with app connections, voice control, and Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 chipset-powered open-ear speakers.
