Meta announced the latest addition to Threads' features earlier this Tuesday. The most significant one centers on the ability to mute notifications from other users and followed accounts on the platform.
However, this is not the only one. The company also added a new privacy feature that will allow users to control who can quote their posts despite having a public account.
The extended controls for users significantly help maximize their Threads use, with the platform offering them peace of mind for the experience.
Meta Threads New Features: Mute Notifications
Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri shared a new update for Threads. In this post, the executive discussed how users may now mute the notifications that are connected to them.
Muting notifications from Threads was previously done by turning them off from the device's app settings. This removes all incoming notices from the platform, whether from people you want to hear from or not.
While it is unclear if it is similar to Instagram's mute, this feature would allow users to mute notifications from your posts specifically.
Some cases claimed this feature was available before, but it was because Meta and Threads had it under testing for several users before this launch.
Limit Quotes of Your Threads Post
In addition, Mosseri unveiled that users may also have control over the quotes of their posts, a feature that went live earlier from Elon Musk's X.
Through these new controls, users may choose who can quote their posts on Threads, limiting the access for users they do not know or are not following them if turned on.
Meta's Threads Development
The famed Meta take on a text-based social media platform made waves in 2023, with Threads rising to massive fame since then, seeing a stellar userbase until today.
There are regular updates on Threads to bring the latest developments from Meta, including the new fact-checking tool now live on the platform, known for taking on its rival's Community Notes.
It is known that Threads is a spinoff of Instagram, and this made account creation easier for users, making it a breeze to transcend Meta's text-heavy platform.
Recently, Mark Zuckerberg, Meta CEO, shared a milestone for Threads which saw a total of 150 million monthly active users on the platform, and this is considering that it only launched last year.
Threads is making a name for itself, seeing massive headway in seeing many users enjoy the social media and bringing new features for those who are on the platform.
The latest new features on Threads may be familiar to users of other platforms, including X and Instagram. These platforms already offer the ability to mute notifications and control quoted posts for their followers and users.
