Apple TV Plus has announced the premiere of its upcoming adventure series, Time Bandits, set for July 24. This series is an adaptation of the 1981 Terry Gilliam film, bringing a fresh take to the beloved classic.
10 episodes will be flashed in the first season for fans to see the first glimpse of the unpredictable journey through time and space led by a group of eccentric thieves.
Surprisingly, the iconic squad will banner its newest recruit Kevin, an 11-year-old history enthusiast.
When Comedy Meets Adventure
If you're binge-watching comedy films or shows right now, your July streaming will be much more enjoyable with Time Bandits shown on a big screen.
As The Verge writes, the series boasts impressive comedic credentials. Jemaine Clement and Iain Morris serve as co-showrunners, with Taika Waititi joining as co-creator and executive producer. This creative team is a perfect recipe for your frequent laughs, delivering a delightful blend of humor and adventure and promising an engaging viewing experience.
Star-Studded Cast
Time Bandits features a talented cast led by Lisa Kudrow, alongside young actor Kal-El Tuck. The ensemble also includes Tadhg Murphy, Charlyne Yi, and Roger Nsengiyumva, bringing a mix of familiar faces and fresh talent to the screen.
Guided by Lisa Kudrow, the eccentric crew of bandits embark on epic adventures while evil forces threaten their conquests and life as they know it. As the group transports through time and space, the gang stumbles upon fascinating worlds of the distant past while seeking out treasure, depending on Kevin to shed light on each situation. The Time Bandits witness the creation of Stonehenge, see the Trojan Horse in action, escape dinosaurs in the prehistoric ages, wreak havoc during medieval times, experience the ice age, ancient civilizations, the Harlem Renaissance, and much more along the way.
Expanding Apple TV Plus' Genre Lineup
This new series continues Apple TV Plus' trend of offering diverse genre content. Recently, the platform wrapped up the first season of the detective series Sugar, continues to air the multiverse-spanning Dark Matter, and is set to premiere the robot mystery show Sunny in July.
With its mix of time-travel adventures and comedic elements, Time Bandits is set to be a sure-fire addition to Apple TV Plus' current lineup of original programming.
