The rumored Google TV "Magic Button" was leaked and is coming soon. The button is known to be customizable and brings users to whatever shortcut they set it to.

Its first iteration will be available to Walmart's Onn 4K Pro black box, a yet-to-be-released streaming device from the renowned retail giant that Google TV powers.

Surprisingly, Google did not bring this Magic Button to its iconic Chromecast devices or Android TV partners first.

The unreleased Walmart Onn 4K Pro black box was discovered to feature Google TV's 'Magic Button,' according to AFTVnews, this is the first device that received this new hardware from the company.

The Magic Button features a "star" icon to represent it, which is found on the top right part of the Onn's remote and will take users directly to their preferred service.

It was revealed that the Magic Button was first rumored way back in 2020, as it first appeared on marketing materials from Google for its Chromecast release four years ago.

Later, it resurfaced again as part of the Android TV beta code, suggesting that a "Magic Button" is coming with a rumored Chromecast device. This may clarify the upcoming Google I/O event this May, which will debut a new streaming device alongside the dedicated Magic Button.

What Does the Google TV Magic Button Do?

The Magic Button is a customizable button programmed into the remote. Users may change their preferred platform or content on the button to use as a shortcut.

It may also change the television's inputs, fitting as it replaces the input button on traditional remotes.

Google TV and Mountain View's Streaming Devices

Google introduced its first-generation streaming device in 2013, the original Chromecast, which offered a stick to access the smart interface that the company designed to make entertainment easier to access.

When it reached its ten years in the tech industry, Google cut off its legs and announced that it would no longer bring updates for the decade-old device moving forward.

On the other hand, Google focuses on bringing television streaming to its renowned Google TV service, which is the featured platform for all things live and on-demand.

Previously, the Mountain View giant also retired the Google Play Movies TV app, the previous platform to stream on-demand shows and movies, claiming that Google TV is the platform for it.

The massive improvements made for Google TV stem across the service but also from several hardware developments present in the market.

Once the Walmart Onn 4K Pro releases, it will feature the dedicated Magic Button represented by a star icon, with the tech offering a way to customize it into a shortcut that would lead users directly to their preferred streaming experience thanks to Google TV.
