Apple CEO Tim Cook confirmed that the company's AI announcements will take place at WWDC 2024, its dedicated developers and software annual event.
It comes after confusion regarding a report announcing that AI announcements are coming for the May event, widely speculated as an iPad hardware event that will bring the latest tech.
Massive things are in place for Apple's upcoming events, and it will offer the company's top developments, now explicitly citing the AI technology to expect.
Apple's WWDC 2024 Will Bring All the AI Announcements
A report from 9to5Mac clarifies earlier confusion. It was said that the May 2024 iPad event would also showcase AI announcements for all to see, but this will not happen as it will center on Cupertino's new tablets.
That said, generative AI is not taking a step back in this release, as it would still be coming for the June 10 WWDC 2024 slated event.
While it may have been understood that Apple will no longer bring AI news, it will dedicate its developers conference to announce what it has in store for users in the artificial intelligence world.
This focuses on iOS 18, which will receive its "biggest update ever," alongside massive changes to other systems like iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, Safari, and more.
May's 'Let Loose' Event Will Center on Hardware
On the other hand, May's Let Loose event will focus mostly on the iPad, with speculation centering on the new iPad Pro with M3 and the new iPad Airs with M2 and its larger 12.9-inch screen.
However, it is known that Apple developed its silicon chips to be AI-ready, and there may be subtle hints about the generative AI features it will bring, but the clear information for AI will be revealed a month later, in June.
Apple's Upcoming Showcases
Various reports have been speculating about Apple's upcoming showcases, particularly for the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) that will take place this year.
It will be a massive event, and this is because generative AI is finally coming to Apple's technologies, particularly with the iOS 18, one to receive its "biggest update ever."
Fans and enthusiasts also expected that Apple would have a March 2024 iPad update that never came, an event that would have delivered the new tablets from the company.
However, it was surprisingly announced this month that it moved to May, calling it the "Let Loose" event that will focus on hardware and hinted at the Apple Pencil, meaning that it is for the iPad.
In the first half of the year, Apple will hold two events that are closely scheduled with each other and will bring the latest developments from the company.
However, Cook already clearly defined that both will take different paths, with the upcoming one focusing on hardware and the latter on software developments, particularly for its first dive into generative AI.
