Walmart is set to unveil a hybrid device that combines a 4K Chromecast with a smart speaker. This innovative streaming box offers a budget-friendly solution that Google has yet to introduce.
Combing Chromecast with Smart Speaker
Walmart is famous for selling great streaming gadgets at super low prices. They're getting ready to launch a new and improved "Pro" Google TV device. 9To5Google reported that a video recently showed everything this new device can do.
Walmart is about to unveil an innovative product: a 4K Chromecast that doubles as a smart speaker. This novel streaming box combines the functionality of a high-resolution streaming device with the convenience of a smart speaker, offering users a comprehensive entertainment solution.
The news surfaced when YouTuber Superdell-TV showcased the device in a recent livestream, claiming to have purchased it from a Walmart store for $50.
While the Onn "Pro" Google TV 4K streaming box with smart speaker capabilities had previously been rumored, its official announcement has yet to be made, leading to speculation about a potential premature stocking.
Surprisingly, the device was available on store shelves much earlier than expected and priced at $50, more than double the cost of Walmart's current 4K Google TV streaming stick.
What truly catches the eye is the appearance of the device. Resembling a square-shaped Google Nest Mini,' it features a fabric-covered speaker atop and an integrated microphone for calling upon Google Assistant.

Like Google's Nest Home speakers, the Onn Pro has a switch to disable the microphone.
Packed with Google Assistant support, it could offer exceptional value at just $50, making it possibly the most cost-effective streaming box on the market, provided it maintains this price point upon its official release.
However, the higher price seems to come with significant improvements. Unlike the stick or dongle, this device is a full-fledged streaming box on your entertainment center.
It features a design with fabric accents and integrated far-field microphones.
Additional Specs
Additionally, the device's back offers more ports, including a full-size USB port, an Ethernet port, and a standard HDMI port.
The device also boasts internal upgrades and houses an Amlogic S905X4 chipset, slightly improving the S905Y4 in the streaming stick.
The device also boasts 3GB of RAM, up from 2GB, and 32GB of storage, up from 8GB, with about 20GB available after setup. Furthermore, it runs on Android 12 right out of the box.
It's still unclear when Walmart will release this device - there's still no listing on its website - but it looks to be a rather compelling device, especially for this apparent $50 price.
Since Walmart hasn't yet announced the Onn Pro, it's not clear when it will be released, but given that Superdell found one on store shelves already, it seems like a launch is imminent.
