Apple ID Randomly Resets, Leaving Some Users Locked Out and Frustrated

No official statement from Apple yet.

Several iPhone users have reportedly been locked out of their accounts after Apple ID was randomly reset. Several users claim that Apple support staff were not able to explain the issue.

Users are reportedly discovering that they must enter their Apple ID accounts again after they are logged out. If users use the same password to log back in, they are then reportedly locked out of their account until they change it, for at least some of these users.

Notably, Apple has not made any public comments regarding this issue, and its system status homepage does not indicate any issues with its services. However, given the volume of complaints on social media, something needs to be addressed.

According to sources, some impacted users had to wait an hour to regain access to iCloud, while others only needed to input their passcode.

Furthermore, customers who have enabled Stolen Device Protection may find it particularly reportedly annoying to be inadvertently signed out of their Apple ID while they are not in a reliable place.

Users who have previously set up passwords for individual apps through iCloud will also have their passwords reset if they reset their Apple ID password.

iPhone User Complaints

On Reddit, someone reportedly stated in a thread that Apple support informed them their password was changed around midnight.

Meanwhile, a Mastodon user claimed they were informed by an Apple support team member that, occasionally, random security upgrades are made to their account.

One of the few issues affecting Apple consumers at the moment is not only the Apple ID reset, as those who are enrolled in the iPhone Upgrade Program recently got an email from Apple informing them that their trade-in was "canceled," with the explanation that the loan would "resume."

Apple's Recent Issues

According to reports, people who used Apple products are affected by this bug, and those who participated in the trade-in program are receiving emails from the company's official website.

Individuals who have been receiving this email have verified that they have been receiving it from Apple, thus for some iPhone owners who are enrolled in the program, this is not a unique incident.

"We never received your iPhone" is the message that appears in numerous users' most recent email from Apple that they shared on Reddit, X, and other social networking sites as part of the iPhone Upgrade Program.

According to a user, Apple claimed to have canceled their trade-in, which was finished in September 2023-the same month that the iPhone 15 was released.

According to reports, there is a bug on Apple's end whereby the system is still identifying individuals who completed the program months ago as unfinished.
