The International Olympic Committee (IOC) unveiled its comprehensive strategy to bring AI into sports development and event management, Fox News reported recently.

This innovative approach aims to identify talented athletes, tailor training regimes to individual needs, and enhance the integrity of competitions by refining judging processes.

IOC President Thomas Bach emphasized the importance of embracing change to uphold the essence of the Olympic Games and ensure their continued relevance in the modern world. The announcement took place at the former London Olympic Park, highlighting the commitment to innovation that has characterized the Olympic movement.

"We are determined to exploit the vast potential of AI in a responsible way," Bach said.

AI Integration Ahead of the Paris Olympics

With less than 100 days remaining until the commencement of the Paris Olympics, the IOC's unveiling of its AI strategy gives a pivotal moment in sports technology.

As anticipation builds for the upcoming games, the incorporation of AI promises to revolutionize various aspects of the event, from athlete performance optimization to audience engagement.

Enhancing Athlete Protection and Viewer Experience

In addition to optimizing athlete training and competition procedures, the IOC's AI initiatives extend to safeguarding athletes against online harassment and enhancing the viewer experience for global audiences.

By harnessing AI-powered solutions, organizers seek to mitigate security risks and elevate the quality of broadcast coverage, thereby enriching the overall Olympic experience for participants and spectators alike.

While the IOC's AI-driven initiatives represent a significant leap forward in sports technology, they have not been without controversy. Plans to deploy AI-enhanced security measures, including video surveillance systems equipped with AI-powered cameras, have sparked debate among stakeholders.

What's more, concerns have been raised regarding privacy implications and the potential for algorithmic biases in surveillance practices.

Last month, France was alerted when an unexpected cyberattack hit federal government agencies in the city.

As Tech Times reported, Prime Minister Gabriel Attal described the incident with "unprecedented intensity."

This was alarming for the host country since the Summer Olympics will start in July, not to mention the Parliament elections that will happen in June.

The authorities had no idea about the hackers' whereabouts, but a single entity known as "Anonymous Sudan" claimed responsibility for the attack. The unknown cybercriminal said that the group launched a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack on some French government institutes at the time.
