Apple Mac M4 2024: When to Expect the Faster, More Powerful Computers

Apple's M4 chips are coming with new Macs this year.

Last week, news about the M4 chips popped up, claiming that there would be a release this year with new Macs, offering a faster, more powerful performance compared to the current top SoC of the company.

The M4 Macs are coming this year, and a new report from a renowned Apple analyst revealed when to expect the new chipset and computer from Cupertino for 2024.

The previous Silicon chip of Apple, the M3, was touted to be the fastest and best-performing one to date, with Cupertino looking to beat its developments yet again.

A new report from Mark Gurman via his Power On newsletter from Bloomberg claimed that the M4 will arrive this 2024, speculated for later this year and by early 2025. While initial reports claimed that 2025 will see an M4 Mac release, this year will also see a specific variant for the Macs getting the M4 upgrade before the year ends.

Multiple Mac computers are getting the M4 upgrade starting this year and continuing until early 2025. Gurman detailed the timeline of the computers' release date, which will feature the new Silicon processor, with the earliest being a 14-inch entry-level MacBook Pro equipped with the M4, alongside a new 24-inch iMac that will come alongside it.

M4: Faster, More Powerful Macs Coming

The other models coming include a new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro, which will feature high-end versions of the M4, the M4 Pro, and the M4 Max, which are speculated to be available until the end of 2024 or early 2025.

On the other hand, a new Mac mini featuring the M4 and M4 Pro will also arrive between the same timeline.

Later that year, new 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air computers will arrive by Spring 2025. Next in line is a Mac Studio with an unspecified high-end chip that will drop by mid-2025.

Lastly, there is a touted Mac Pro that will get a specific M4 Ultra chip when it releases, slated for the second half of 2025.

Apple's M4 and the M-series

Initial reports about the M4 were that it would arrive in two years, and those reports were from 2023, pointing to 2025 as the release of these new developments from Apple.

It was said that TSMC, Apple's partner for its Silicon chips' manufacturing, previously demonstrated the M4 chips already, one that will feature a 2nm architecture, said to be faster and smaller compared to the 3nm M3.

The yearly update of the M-series chip was expected, but it was previously revealed that the M4 would see a skip for its annual release in 2024, according to market analysts.

It also suggested that the new wave of Macs paired with the M4 Silicons would arrive by early 2025, and it will see this delay because of Apple's move to integrate AI capabilities into the processors.

The previous releases of the M-series also saw inconsistencies, particularly as 2020's M1 was followed by 2021's M1 Max and M1 Pro, followed by 2022's M2, and 2023's M3.

In this new report by Gurman, it seems like Apple is all ready for an M4 release this 2024, with massive expectations including onboard AI, alongside a faster, more powerful performance coming.
