The service will soon shut down for all users of Showtime's standalone streaming platform, says Paramount, who is now notifying users about these changes to the streaming platform.
Users are now encouraged and redirected to head on to Paramount Plus, the streaming platform of the company to which it will bring its massive focus for future growth.
Previously, Paramount Plus already offered a bundle that offers Showtime's content to the platform, and this will now be the main subscription needed for users who still want to watch Showtime offers.
Showtime Streaming Service is Shutting Down This April
Showtime's streaming platform subscribers have been receiving the notice from the company regarding the independent platform's shutdown, Variety reported.
The report further claimed that the notification messages from Showtime claim that the streaming service will no longer be accessible come April 30, ending the platform come the month's end.
This move attests to Paramount Global's plans, which it made public last year. The company is overhauling Showtime and rebranding the traditional television network into a streaming-centered media provider.
Users are now given until the end of the month to get the Showtime experience on the streaming platform before it exits.

Users are Redirected to Paramount Plus
With this shutdown, Paramount is now pushing users towards the Paramount Plus with Showtime plan on their main streaming platform.
This would require users to sign up for Paramount Plus and pay a $11.99 monthly subscription for the service featuring Showtime content.
This is also part of Paramount's plan to reinforce more of the streaming platform, alongside the new direction of the Showtime network towards "Paramount Plus with Showtime."
Paramount and its Streaming
Back in 2021, Paramount first introduced its bid to the streaming wars in the tech industry with Paramount+, the platform touted as bringing the best of the company's content.
It comes with an all-access experience to CBS' offers, being owned by Paramount Global. Initially, it touted a low-priced viewing experience for its subscribers.
Despite this, Showtime held its own on the streaming services available in the US, with the platform offering exclusive Showtime content for all to enjoy.
Later, it was made available as part of the Paramount+ with Showtime plan that was introduced for only $7.99 per month, later seeing a price increase by as much as four dollars.
Initially, there were plans for Paramount+ and Max to merge into one massive streaming platform to take on industry giants like Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, and more, but its deal fell through.
With Paramount+ remaining as an independent platform, the parent company now decided to kill off Showtime's streaming service to reinforce more towards its main service of Paramount Plus.
